  • Netflix boss: Broadcast TV has another 15 years  [View news story]
Right now protectionist practices are the only thing keeping tv afloat. For instance HBO to go still requires an HBO subscription through a cable network. The technology exists for content creators to cut out the middle men and stream you what you want a la carte.

I agree streaming live sports will be the watershed moment.

  • The Future Of Apple Pay  [View article]
Apple is a computer company. Their goal is to sell hardware. They do this by combining as many of the features and devices that people use into one unit, the Iphone. So yeah, they are now working at merging your wallet with your phone. They are not trying to put something into your wallet. They are just making more reasons for people to keep buying the one product that drives all their revenue.

All this ibank speculation is pure science fiction.

I thought the point was getting rid of cards? If you have an iPhone why you need a card?

  • Microsoft launches first wearable  [View news story]
Wow. This looks to me to be the first truly useful wearable. Even better, MS has created a new platform with this and has already started partnering with other companies. You want to use your Band with myfitnesspal, no problem, with a Galaxy, no problem, integrate with your Gold's Gym membership, no problem. If these things start to sell, I expect to see more partnerships and integration. As well, with the promise of windows 10 running on everything, the potential for developers to make apps that can go from your wrist to your office to your living room opens up soooooo many new possibilities.

I also like how they managed to keep it pretty under wraps, makes me wonder what else is coming.

  • Apple's Low-Cost Business Mac: PC Implications  [View article]
No way. Project is a mission critical application. There is no way that anyone who uses Project would even dream of using a stripped down version, which is why it retails for about $1000.

Seriously people if you don't know what your talking about don't speak.

There is so much more that goes into "the enterprise" then excel, and so many reasons why MS dominance in real business can not be challenged.

    These articles are ridiculous.

  • How Apple And Google Crushed Windows Phone  [View article]
Windows phone would be doing a lot better if the carriers were not doing everything in their power to bury it. When I bought my 920, the salesman actively tried to talk me out of the sale. Now that I have upgraded to 8.1 with Cortana, its a huge game changer. My phone is practically alive now, OFFERING me information, which no other phone is capable of. Further the app gap is closing very rapidly, and the ability for app developers to utilize Cortana will also be a game changer.

Bottom line, Windows phone is fighting tomorrow's battle. I dont think they even care about today's sales. They are just building enough phones to float their continued development.

  • Apple: New B8 Chip To Start A PC Revolution  [View article]
This is a silly article, and just goes to show how little people understand what IT means in the real world. Today I was using AutoCAD, pulling information from various PDF's and a number of spreadsheets, to create drawings for my installation team. At the same time answering emails and checking my calendar through Outlook, and occasionally getting stuff from the web. Everything I was using was on shared folders for collaboration with other team members. Good luck doing anything like this on an iPad, or really anything else that doesn't use an x86 processor.

Oh did I mention I was using a $400 dollar dell ideapad?

Or you could just type the first 3 letters of the app name. Or since most people only use a handful if apps, just customize the start screen. Really, most peoples criticism of win 8 is just plain ignorance. I wasn't a HUGE fan of win 8, until my boss have me a win 7 machine. I feel like I'm in the stone age now.
