  • Microsoft: Why Lumia Earnings Barely Matter [View article]
The push into low cost phones is directly aimed at the enterprise. If you can buy a box of Lumia 520's for you employees, and have them seamlessly integrate into your existing infrastructure, you do so. I expect to see the 5xx line spread like cancer through corporate America once the BBRY implosion is complete. In this way, windows phone becomes part of the most around windows stranglehold on the enterprise, and that is what they are trying to do. In the future I believe you will see a docked Surface Pro on every desk, and some form if Lumia on every hip in corporate America.

  • Microsoft Late Again To Gaming Market With JV [View article]
This article is garbage. He takes a headline, speculates what it could mean, then determines that based on his speculation the venture will fail.

    Come on SA.

  • Exploring Intel's Manufacturing Leadership [View article]
The A7 is going to force Apple's competitors to use the next best thing. Its just up to Intel to provide that, and it looks like they are either there or very close.

Imo, the A7 strengthens Intel's position.

  • Intel: Apple's A7 Chip Reveals Dangerous Trend [View article]
The A7 is a major boon for Intel, as Apple's competitors are now going to need better processors to compete. If Intel can provide that then the advancement by Apple could force their competitors, who have larger market share then Apple, to use their chips.

Assuming that everyone else can do what Apple has just done, as well, and in a cost effective way is a bit of a stretch. If their was a chip that could compete on the shelf, why bother with the massive costs of designing your own?

  • Apple Versus Intel: What's Going On Here? [View article]
This is actually a good thing for Intel. Getting into the iPhone or ipad was always in doubt, imo, besides market share for those products is declining. However, this giant leap by Apple, will only put pressure on their competitors to use the "next best thing", which we see is Intel.

Intel doesn't need to be in iOS if it can dominate android and windows, and these benchmarks show that those vendors will need to step it up to stay competitive. The A7 is a boon to Intel.

  • NYT: Nokia worked on Android phones, Microsoft knew [View news story]
The phone business sucks. An endless arms race. Notice how the only real players that are making any money are doing so with the ecosystem and services they offer. Nokia is smart to get out now.

  • Nokia partners with Mercedes-Benz on self-driving cars [View news story]
Nokia is smarter then us. Phones have become a cutthroat game. A never ending arms race between platforms. The money is in the services not the hardware, so why would Nokia want a piece of that? Microsoft needs it because it pushes their ecosystem, Nokia just wants to focus on developing their services like HERE. The deal is a win/win/win for Nokia/Microsoft/Consum...

  • Intel Has Been, And Still Is, A Lousy Stock For Investors [View article]
Yeah lets look at a chart that starts at a period of severe overvaluation (what was intels PE at 60$?), and ends in one of moderate undervaluation and use that chart to say the stock is bad for investors.

I know you know better RS.

For another look, check out the fast graph on Intel. It puts things in perspective.
