  • How Warren Buffett's Misunderstanding Of QE Left Billions On The Table [View article]
Cullen, you have made a good point, unfortunately to many people are blinded by the glow from the idol they think WB is, and have not been to nice in their comments. They say he was smart because he stayed out of the dot com era, but I find it interesting that many people, including myself, made a lot of money during that time. WB has made many mistakes and he sometimes even admits it, to bad some people can't see it. We're all human, we all make mistakes, it's what we learn from them that's important.

  • The Silliness Of Tesla's 10kWh Back-Up Battery [View article]
There is no way a seized pool pump could trip a sub station! This comment board is the biggest bunch of BS I've read in some time. The author wrote a serious article, how can it turn into this kind of ignorant responses.

  • Rate Hikes Are Coming And 23% Below Net Asset Value - Is It Time To Start Buying FSC? [View article]
When are people going to learn that the external management BDC's are not started to make the individual investor money, there to make the management money. Fortunately some actually make enough money for everyone to make money. Fifth Street is just not one of them as are a few others.

  • REITs: Look Out Below? [View article]
Surprised that your now giving up on LXP. I would consider LXP at almost a 3 year low a good buy at this price level. Almost all their debt is fixed rate and a sound 7% dividend. Certainly should not be hurt by what little the fed can raise rates. They are working to get out of the office properties, which won't happen over night, but appear to have it under control. Just my humble opinion, always looking for the contrary value play

  • The Curse Of The 'Mini' Bubble: China's Period Of Worsening News [View article]
Well, if all else fails, they can do like the US and start a war. That always helps an economy. Seriously, China is trying to get away from an export driven economy, and working toward one of internal consumption. This may be an outdated indicator.

  • You Big Dummy, I Just Bought More Shares In Lexington Realty [View article]
Brad, I guess I'm in good company as LXP hit my limit order price today, so your not the only dummy, if that will make you feel any better. I like the fact that basically all their debt is fixed rate, which should limit any affect of rising interest rates, which some comment rising rates to be a problem. And what's not to like about a +7% dividend.

  • It's Going To Take A Major Bear Market Before Stocks Can Live Up To Investors' Lofty Expectations [View article]
Comparing this market to the market in 1999 is totally misleading. Most of the companies that drove the market to the high in 1999 are no longer in business and never had any earnings. Today's market is made up of profitable businesses. You are comparing apples to oranges. Just compare the NASDAQ P/E of today to that of 1999, no comparison. And with a portfolio of solid dividend paying stocks, your not going to wake up in 20 years and realize you went nowhere.

Fully believe and have been doing as your article instructs. Unfortunately, it appears those who could use the lesson the most, just don't get it.

  • Vera Bradley: A Top Contrarian Play In Retail [View article]
One correction, they did not close their Fort Wayne, IN manufacturing facility, but only a small leased facility located in New Haven, IN. This was done because they are going to outsource manufacturing to foreign countries which appears to not be setting well with some customers. I'm assuming that is where the leather hand bags are coming from along with the many other trinkets their getting into, which is a very competitive business. I have no vested interest one way or the other, only that I live in a nearby community and hope they are successful for the many employees sake. I do know from my wife's comments that there is a limit to how many expensive bags you can buy, and there not the fashion statement they once were. Also a local shop owner and freind who used to sell their items, but no longer does because VRA cut out many of the small boutiques who were once their main outlet. This has left a bad taste in their mouths.

mingo - OHI has had a recent pull back in price and has a +5% dividend. Brad has also spoken well of it. I personally own it and feel secure with it. STAG from this article is also a good one with a 6% dividend.

Gold is not money. Try to buy a car with gold. It would never happen because of the high transaction fees (commissions) in the trade of the metal and the volatility in value. If they did except it, you would be paying a premium. When there is no faith in our currency, nobody's going to want gold either. It's a trading vehicle and that's all, nice jewelry too.

  • The Mother Of All Margin Calls [View article]
There is plenty of risk in gold considering it's just another metal with limited uses that few people will want or need should there be a financial disaster. In fact, gold only has a value as long as there is a monetary system to buy it with. We no longer live in the dark ages.
