Costco: Overpriced for Its Growth Rate [view article]
Thanx for another great article...I've been watching particularly the foriegn currencies that are helping the overall sales figures each month.
The Dollar vs. British Pound has pretty much flatlined @ around .50, not giving must benifit at all compared to LY.
The Dollar vs. Canadian Dollar is sill showing declines of between 10-15% vs. last LY, thus giving the international "infationary comps".
Watch out for mid summer though, when this currency ratio becomes less rewarding. (Currently trading @ 1:1, vs. close to even and even... leading up to Sept 07')
These conclusions are based on the fact that the dollar holds it's ground throughout 08'. If the dollar gains between now and then, the UK is in serious trouble and Canada will weaken at a much faster rate.
For those nay-sayers.... How does 3-5% US comps w/ NEGATIVE international sales sound?? Feb 12 12:48 PM
