    • Sinking Ships? Tanker Stocks' Difficult Week and Why They Should Soon Rebound [view article]
Glad to see someone tackling the shipping subject. I have been trading these for sometime. Lost my shirt this week. Hope you are right. My short term investments have a way of becoming long term investments. Oct 14 10:12 PM
    • Ethanol Stocks Perk Up On OPEC Cut, Production Hopes [view article]
ADM is worth a small part of one's investment ideas. The others mentioned will be consolidated, because they are underfunded. Something might emerge over time that incorporates some of the assets of the new plants at a nickel on the dollar and finally have some reasonable expectation of success. Oct 14 10:10 PM
    • China's Oil Demand in Perspective [view article]
Phil, Phil, Phil...no one buys the conspiracy theory except folks like Senator Clinton.
And don't drag Boon Pickens in on your hair brained conspiracy stuff...it just does not happen that way. The chinese are and the indians are sucking up the supplies faster than we can find it. Yes we have more wells but the production is still going south. We could double the number of rigs, but unless we hit an unexpected bonanza field we are unlikely to reverse the trend but it would help if we drilled all of Alaska, and much of the Rockies, and off every coast as we slowly transition to another alternative energy. But there again I am a part of the vast right wing conspiracy.

    • Chesapeake is a Natural Pick in Natural Gas [view article]
I live in Oklahoma, and have watched CHK as a neighbor and investor. It is an aggressive company. It's headquarters looks like a major University campus with building after building, a literal business campus. These guys are looking for oil and gas, and are determined to find it. Your article has merit. My attention to CHK was brought to my attention by my late father, and I wish I had bought it when he originally described it to me. Part of one's port should be CHK. • Natural Gas a Better Bet Than Crude Oil [view article]
Great points. The PE of Anadarko and Chesapeake are appealing. Do not overlook Devon and Williams with higher PEs but turning over every rock to find oil and gas. They are buying up every lease in Oklahoma and Texas. Devon is in the group that struck the big find in the Gulf. Only a major catastrophe such as a bird flu epidemic could reduce the population suddenly to reduce the demand for oil. This is a wild card that disturbs me, but I remain bullish on oil and gas, unless the unthinkable happens.
Crazies in Iran or North Korea could drive oil to $200 per barrel with a nuclear strike on Japan, or in the Persian Gulf, or on Israel.

I suppose that it is possible that pigs can fly. I would love to see $15 oil again. Would also like to see my deceased grandfather. Here's hoping for the best. Sep 17 08:42 PM
    • Why We Continue to Expect Exorbitant Oil Prices [view article]
Very logical, Watson. Deductive thinking leads to the conclusion that current inventory is an illusion which will be destroyed by the hungry appetite for oil by India and China, pushing oil even higher. Will take a while to exploit the new Gulf find, and even longer for northern liberals to experience a freeze before we will be able to extract the oil from Alaska, and beneath the Rockies. Most of America sleeps and only the readers of arcane editorials are aware of what is happening. Keep up the good writing. Maybe more people will wake up, and not be lulled into a false sense of security. Senator Kennedy once said, that there was no need for an oil depletion allowance for domestic oil producers because we would always be able to buy $3 per barrel oil from the Saudi's. I think he was still suffering post traumatic syndrome when he said this, and I am not sure if it was his brother's assassination or the incident at Martha's vineyard. Sep 17 08:40 PM

    • Oil Price Manipulation: Taking from the Poor to Give to the Rich [view article]
Phil Davis must be flying at high altitude outside a pressurized cabin. His views on the price of oil shows he knows nothing about the subject or economics 101. His views are close to those of Marx or Lenin. Sep 16 07:15 PM
