  • Investors flee oil sands after Alberta election [View news story]
regarding the NDP's mess in Ontario that isn't a fair comment. The NDP inherited a devastating and unexpectedly large deficit from the Conservatives. The fiscal prudence they exhibited by slashing the budget and introducing Rae days ( a unique way to reduce labour costs without job loss) earned them the enmity of the public but it was the right thing to do.

  • A 2015 'Nuclear Renaissance' Should Fuel Solid Gains For Uranium Stocks [View article]
Well. I've heard this argument many times since the approach of the end of the agreement between Russia and America. I have been burned and caught several falling knives. So I have been watching this sector closely.

While Denison and Cameco stand to profit I would put my money on Fission Uranium. Fission is sitting on the mother lode of high grade in a shallow (cheap to mine) depth. If there is going to be a takeover this is the obvious choice.

Wow the lot of you were expecting to hold this for how long? What are you all 26 years old? I have seen energy cycles before and will again. I haven't sold a dime of this stock and don't expect to for a couple of years at least. If I'm down then maybe I'll have the right to come back here and cry.

  • Recent Asset Sale Metrics Point To 300% Upside For Lightstream Resources [View article]
Well. Here's my speculation: Oil will stay down until Russia is brought under control in Ukraine. Saudi Arabia will keep pumping oil until the Russian economy is in tatters unless they bring their troops back. So far the news is encouraging interest rates up 150 basis points in one shot recently, stock exchange tanking in Russia, and an oil/gas pipeline project to supply Europe (and bypass Ukraine) stopped dead in it's tracks. Russia has made big deals with China and soon Turkey (the only place they can now route this pipeline) but these customers are extorting huge discounts. It's a matter of time or increased political tension.

  • Stock With 'Miner' Advantages [View article]
This is one of the worst articles I've read on SA to date. It is a piece of fluff rehashing the tired argument that uranium will go up "eventually" and one should invest in the juniors. This one is worse because it has no analysis, doesn't even mention the company's cost of production, cash on hand, level of debt, etc etc.

Why did you even bother submitting this article? Why was it even published?

Well done. I have been in this company based on the advice of another. I agree with your thesis that this stock will outperform over the next year or two.

  • If You Are An Alpha Seeker Looking For The Next Big Energy Play, Load Epsilon Energy Now [View article]
    Hey VD,
I did not mean to sound flippant or complaining. I'm sorry if I gave that impression. For the record I would like to clarify.

First, your picks generally keep rising months after publication. I did not dispute this. In fact I bought EPS despite a dramatic rise in price and I do not expect to sell it anytime soon.

Second, many "Top Ideas" do not rise in the first day of public availability. That only proves that some opportunities are more clear, more compelling, better researched etc. The fact is that some articles will move the market, some won't and to the thoughtful person it is often fairly obvious which will and won't.

Your third point I also agree with. One can/should always do their own DD. (Mind you, many of us have regular jobs and cant achieve your level)

My point was that there are a lot of people making short term money on well researched and compelling articles like yours. For example: 48 hours before this article's release to the masses this stock jumped from ~4 CAD to ~ 5CAD. volume on the 25th was ~40k and on the 27th 500k, the 28th 1000k. The 30th the stock peaked at 5.09 and ended the day at 4.67 with a red volume bar.

Clearly people read your article, bought in 24 hours prior, and around noon there was a wave of selling (taking significant profits), and they sold enough to drop the price significantly. That's why I say this situation is "LIKE" a pump and dump. it isn't one but it's like one.

This is not a unique article in this regard. I have seen it happen several times. You are right that not every article affects the market in this way but I feel pretty confident that if I had advance notice I would be able to tell which ones would. It's more predictable than a stock like EPS. We are confident EPS will increase it's share price but we don't know exactly when whereas we know exactly when an article will be released to the masses and can usually pick the best, most compelling articles.

I don't invest in that way. I try to be a long term investor (sometimes it's hard....like uranium). My only complaint in my first post was that it's never fun to buy a stock and watch it go down 10% in 24 hours as people take profits, But that's just me blowing off steam.

Does anyone know why sudden drop on the last earnings report? I didn't see anything particularly bad there. Seemed to me it was a stay the course report. Did I miss something?

I agree. I read his article. I see the value. That's why I am in. I have patience.

It's pretty clear that a LOT of people aren't in it for that though. They are taking a tidy 20% for two days. And they will likely repeat it again on the next clearly good opportunity.

I can't say I blame them. I might do the same if I had the guts to drop nearly 10% of my portfolio on a membership.yes I am a small player
