Hi KP, just wondering if you have changed your position (short term) on Apple. It has just been floating around between 500ish and 530 and can't seem to gain any momentum. I noticed that you no longer list Apple as one of your holdings in your positions disclosure, have you fully exited? Thanks for your comments!

IB, I'm no expert but I believe on the PnF chart we had a double bottom breakdown (possibly triple after today?) and support is around 424-428. Just glad I sold about an hour before the announcement because this selloff is brutal!

Thanks for your analysis KP. One last question on this and its based soley on opinion..... you are obviously bullish for the longer term but what do you think is going to happen come Tuesday? Any guesses on what they will announce and the effect on the stock? Thanks as always!

Hi KP, just wondering what your opinion is on some things:

-seems there is a lot of resistance at the $500 level as someone previously mentioned, Apple hasn't been able to get back over that level even with markets moving higher, the US Apple invite, and this surprise China invite to some announcement (whether this is for the new lower cost iPhone or China Mobile deal or something entirely different remains to be seen). Does this appear to just be consolidation?
-When this golden cross is acheived, if Apple some how does not meet the publics expectations with their new product(s), do you still feel we can have a strong move up? Won't negative public sentiment in this scenario outweigh the golden cross and therefore retrace back down?

I understand there are a lot of "what if's" but it is very puzzling that we have not run up with the market and good news, so any insight is greatly appreciated. I am holding Dec. 500 calls, sitting on some profit and nervously wondering which direction its going to go from this announcement! Thanks!!

  • SPWR...Why The Stampede? [View instapost]
KP, SPWR has gone from $28 down to $21.58......the latter being reached today on high volume, is below the 50 dam. I understand that SPWR earnings were good and in fact better than any other solar company, turning a profit. But it seems we just keep heading down after any solar company reports their earnings. I know it's only after hours but SCTY has reported, is down and so now is SPWR. Is this pretty significant that we are below the 50 dma on high volume? I'm holding some Sept 25 calls and am getting concerned. Thanks for any thoughts.

Ouch, KP I guess this is one of those 30% swings in the portfolio you said could happen.....unfortunately it is a swing down this time and in my case 35%! And we may not be done yet. : (

Thanks, appreciate your comments as well! I figured with the numbers they posted, it was very positive.....just wanted to get confirmation from the meister! I have plenty of time on my SPWR options, I was just pleased to see your post about Apple...as I have always thought it was a matter of time before it came roaring back....and am hoping SPWR will get there so I can take a bigger bite out of the Apple!

Hi KP, wondering if your near term projections for SPWR to hit $33 have changed (maybe take longer?) since Q3 revenue guidance is weaker than expected? EPS were outstanding and good for fy13.... Was hoping for a nice pop and then to move some $ into Apple, so far afterhours it's down though. Any insight? Thank you

KP, after printing $25 and then dropping to $23.81, it looks like we are in danger of a 3 box reversal in SPWR if it prints below $23. Is this correct and how does this affect your view of it reaching the 30's in the next 5 weeks?

Yes it helps, another piece to the puzzle! Thanks

What are some other tools or indicators you use to try and gauge overall market direction? You mentioned distribution in a past post, how can you tell if it's panic selling or a full shift in market sentiment? Is it based on volume and direction of the major indexes in relation to the previous days trading and whether it is sustained in that direction for a certain time period? Thanks in advance!

KP, after hours today there was over 4 million shares traded on SUNE with little to no price movement. Any opinion on why the large afterhours volume? Could it just be large funds buying/selling shares with each other?

Hope your trip has been enjoyable and relaxing. Just want to say again how remarkable the performance of your public portfolio was. You have opened my mind to the world of options trading, and with your generosity of this public portfolio (and my willingness to walk on the wild side), I was able to profit handsomely from your calls. Thank you!

I am currently trying to educate myself more with charts and how to go about picking the right options (however I don't mind letting you pick them for me!). I will repeat what has been said by many and hope you continue with your blog. Personally I would like to know more about how you go about picking the options to buy. So although I am more than happy and appreciative to hear your specific stock picks, I am equally eager to know more about how you derive those picks.

But, as you stated you underestimated the amount of time it took to keep the blog going, I'm sure it would take even more time to drop some knowledge on us. Either way, I thank you, and my family thanks you!

  • Portfolio Update For The Week Ending June 7, 2013 [View instapost]
KP, I noticed that you use the high/low price option on most if not all your PnF charts, as a newbie trying to learn, do you find that this option is better than the closing price or do you use both options. In your opinion does one bring about better results/information that the other? Appreciate your opinion, thanks!

  • Portfolio Update For The Week Ending May 31, 2013 [View instapost]
KP, as you know I have posted before to your blog. I started following it around the first week of May, so roughly a month ago, which was coming late to the party but never the less very wise for me.. I have pretty much mimicked your trades from that point but with lower amounts of the calls (since they were more expensive when I got in) and am up about 420%. Thank You!!!
