The only fallacy I see in Mr. Petersen's analysis and comments about the timeline for cost effiicent Li-ion battery market introduction is the complete omission of breakthrough technology that would make Li-ion
highly competitive in the near future. It is really hsard to be truly objective when you are long in a competing technolgy.

Automakers: Electric Vehicle In Mirror May Be Closer Than It Appears

You might try to research ALTI. Their nanotech battery is being used by Phoenix Motorcar in a SUV that carries 5 people and can travel 100 miles at highway speeds over 90 mph. Only problem: cost. They don't advertise cost, so I think their sales are limited to government sponsored programs. That being said, the technology exists and economy of scale will have a significant impact on cost.
