  • France Going To War Against GE... And I'm Rooting For France [View article]
A few balancing points should be made here. (1) GE has lots of business in France and one would assume it knows how to navigate the minefields there (Immelt said as much on CNBC), (2) Much of Alstom's operations are outside of France and presumably GE will have more unfettered freedom with them, (3) The strategic fit between GE and Alstom's power businesses is very good. Sometimes you have to weigh the pros and the cons of such deals, and Immelt has pretty good horse sense in my opinion.

  • Analysis: Nice entry point for Lions Gate [View news story]
How about a 68% return on equity, projected earnings per share growth of 47% and a 5 year projected PEG ratio of.80?

  • Divergent Prevails; Lions Gate Stock On The Mend [View article]
What a difference a week makes. LGF virtually collapsed last week, for no good reason I could discern other than a few comments by Carl Icahn comparing LGF to Ebay. In the meantime Divergent made another $40 million over the past week (estimated as of March 30) to total more than $95 million after less than two weeks of US/Canada only theater runs. It should easily make $100 million after two weeks of running time. Since it cost only about $85 million to produce, it is already in the black and will open in Europe and elsewhere starting April 4. I continue to accumulate LGF with hopes it goes a bit lower so I can buy more before the market wakes up to the great opportunity this well-run company presents.

  • Divergent cruises to $56M opening weekend [View news story]
Only folks who I know that gave the movie a "thumbs up" before the opening were the YAs...they created the buzz that made the movie a success, and they are all who count in this case. Glad I bought the $30 April calls on Friday:-).

  • Lions Gate smacked by mixed reviews on Divergent [View news story]
Rotten Tomatoes also indicates that 96% of its users want to see "Divergent". That is by far the highest percentage of any upcoming movie for the next week. Moreover, although the critics have generally panned the movie, "Entertainment Weekly's" top critic (Owen Gleiberman) gives it a B+ and a glowing review. But all this is just speculation on the movie's success. Only the YA's will determine that, and they have been known to be pretty independent on their views. Given the selloff, I am buying calls that bet the film will surprise on the upside.

  • Contrarian Viewpoint: Gold Miners Picking Up Some Fans [View article]
I agree with the gist of this article, that gold looks ready to bounce. How about the gold streamers as a lower risk way to play gold, but with similar recovery potential?

  • Follow Carl Icahn Into Nuance Communications [View article]
Note that NUAN is also converting their revenue base from perpetual to recurring revenue:

Ricci: "We continued to evolve our business model from perpetual licenses towards recurring revenue types including on-demand, term-based, subscription, and transactional pricing models. For example, in healthcare, our Clintegrity, products are sold as a term license and we're also increasing term license and on-demand sales of our Dragon Medical and Diagnostic Solutions."

This conversion is creating a temporary revenue drop, but should result in good gains in revenue as the conversion is completed, as it did for Adobe and Autodesk.

I have been buying aggressively whenever the stock drops under $14.

  • Exact Sciences - Cologuard Is Strike 3, And EXAS Is Out (5 Of 5) [View article]
My Dad died of Colon Cancer which puts me at greater risk than average. Consequently, I have had a colonoscopy every 5 years since age 40 (I am currently 68). Any option that can get me out of more of these will get my vote. That is one reason why I have invested in EXAS, I know Cologuard will sell if it fulfills most of its promise. I would buy the test even if it isn't fully reimbursed, and I would bet I am not alone. What is a few hundred bucks if I can avoid the huge hassle and indeed danger of a colonoscopy?

  • Exact Sciences - Appendix: Answering The Critics [View article]
Hey, how about an Appendix 2? Must be some more you can do to pump up the stock.... But I have to admit you did help me learn a lot more about Cologuard and its potential, thanks to the excellent rebuttals your articles elicited. I am clicking "follow" you, so I don't miss the next stock you target, and the opportunity to make some more dough trading against you. Best of Luck.

  • Exact Sciences - Cologuard Is Strike 3, And EXAS Is Out (5 Of 5) [View article]
I think AE should keep writing this stuff...EXAS is up almost 1.5% since this latest chapter. The bottom is in, good support obvious at $13. Hopefully, this will be another HLF and we can get a great short squeeze. Hang in there, longs:-))!

  • Exact Sciences: This Is Not The Next Pap Smear - Debunking The Bull Case (4 of 5) [View article]
You have done a lot of work on these articles, too bad the stock seems to have based at $13 no matter how much mud you throw at it. I hope you made a few bucks. I know I have by betting against you on the way down to $12.52 (darn, and I had another buy order in at $12.50). Can't wait to see your last article. Cliff hangers all!

  • Exact Sciences - Flushing $$$ Down The Drain (2 Of 5) [View article]
Well, of course, and that "blow up" was the opportunity to make some money. The stock went down to about $20 after the attack, and then when Goldman and others came to its support by debunking the short's "ponzi scheme" argument, the stock floated up to the current price of $27. The argument continues, but I see holding the stock at these levels as a "no brainer" with a 10% dividend. I doubt that you will get EXAS down below the 50 day average, but hey, go for it:-)!

  • Exact Sciences - Flushing $$$ Down The Drain (2 Of 5) [View article]
Yes, and the battle is still on, but the stock is currently at about $27, after falling to $20. The time to buy is when you guys launch your attacks, and the stock blows up. I didn't buy at 20, but did get it at less than 23. The sell side came in strong after the attack (including Goldman) to debunk the ponzi scheme argument, and the stock has stabilized and headed higher since. Of course, the 10% dividend is a real problem for shorts in LINE, too...
