  • Apple, IBM in far-reaching enterprise partnership [View news story]
Anyone remember the famous "1984" Apple Macintosh ad where Apple trashed IBM as "Big Brother" who was trying to control the thoughts of the world? How things have changed:-).

  • France Going To War Against GE... And I'm Rooting For France [View article]
A few balancing points should be made here. (1) GE has lots of business in France and one would assume it knows how to navigate the minefields there (Immelt said as much on CNBC), (2) Much of Alstom's operations are outside of France and presumably GE will have more unfettered freedom with them, (3) The strategic fit between GE and Alstom's power businesses is very good. Sometimes you have to weigh the pros and the cons of such deals, and Immelt has pretty good horse sense in my opinion.

  • Apple: Do You Hear The Crickets? [View article]
We all remember Jobs for his secrecy until he was absolutely satisfied with a product, and then the electrifying launch. Let's hope that Cook is about to repeat the scenario again. If so, the current "cricket period" will be remembered as a fantastic buying opportunity. The quiet before the storm, so to speak. I am accumulating on dips, and am hoping the crickets allow me to buy more below $425, although that is looking increasingly unlikely....

I'll pit the Berkshire-Hathaway longs against reach's comments any day. This looks like a no brainer to me . PS I bought into Apple last year when it was hitting $400 (presplit) too as a no brainer:-).

  • Exact Sciences - Appendix: Answering The Critics [View article]
Hey, how about an Appendix 2? Must be some more you can do to pump up the stock.... But I have to admit you did help me learn a lot more about Cologuard and its potential, thanks to the excellent rebuttals your articles elicited. I am clicking "follow" you, so I don't miss the next stock you target, and the opportunity to make some more dough trading against you. Best of Luck.

  • Apple: It's Time To Move On [View article]
Apple has shown it can take new products and make them into very profitable "must have" items. True, the smart phone, tablet, and PC cash cows are on the decline for Apple....too many other companies have jumped on the band wagon of Apple innovation in these areas. But Apple's ecosystem is intact and thriving, and there are many more possibilities for new products that we have all heard rumors about. I am betting that at least one or more of these will start a new cycle of prosperity for Apple based on its past history. Long Apple.

  • How Apple Gets To $400 A Share [View article]
It is no doubt true that Apple has been over-owned, but a lot of the weak hands have probably now been washed out. It seems doubtful to me that shorting the stock at this stage will be very worth-while, given the arguments above and the technical bounces at $500, so I hope you shorted it when the stock was over $600 and are prepared to cover before earnings come out.

  • Follow Carl Icahn Into Nuance Communications [View article]
Note that NUAN is also converting their revenue base from perpetual to recurring revenue:

Ricci: "We continued to evolve our business model from perpetual licenses towards recurring revenue types including on-demand, term-based, subscription, and transactional pricing models. For example, in healthcare, our Clintegrity, products are sold as a term license and we're also increasing term license and on-demand sales of our Dragon Medical and Diagnostic Solutions."

This conversion is creating a temporary revenue drop, but should result in good gains in revenue as the conversion is completed, as it did for Adobe and Autodesk.

I have been buying aggressively whenever the stock drops under $14.
