Goldman Raises Apple's Price Target on 3G iPhone Launch
You've been hating on the IPHONE for a full year now... How's that apple short working out for you? (I'd imagine you made some money in Feb... good for you).
Personally, I'm just very excited to buy my first IPHONE in the coming weeks when the 3G version in announced. I had to hold off for the past year because I still was under contract with Verizon.... And I'd imagine there are MANY MANY people like me... I'll happily pay $600 for the new IPHONE if it's 32 GIG of memory and 3G.
Rumors are that AT&T is going to subsidize it this time around though... $200 off for 2 year contract. Not sure how this will effect Apple's deal with AT&T.. .but no matter what.. it'll translate to huge sales of IPHONES. The new SDK is looking amazing... nothing like its ease of use for the general consumer to install applications on any other cell phone.
I considered selling some apple stock to buy my IPHONE.. at this point i think i'll let it ride and buy the time the next version is released my stock gains will buy me a new one. That's the best thing about being an apple investor and apple product user... You never have to actually pay for an apple product.. if you use your apple profits to buy apple products. It's a sweet deal.
iPhones Sell Themselves in Everyday Tasks
Reveal your "short position" to us all Samij and stop whining like a little girl. IPHONE was not a FLOP.. show me a single phone in Europe that launched and sold more briskly on opening weekend than the IPHONE?! Please give me the numbers.. I'd like to see them! And I think the phone was very well received in France... in fact Wireless carriers are suing each other over the right to sell the IPHONE... has this EVER happened before in the history of cell phones?
Once again, samij you prove yourself to be a total imbecile that is desperately trying to improve his short position on Apple's stock.
Siri/XM Merger Opponents Aren't Considering Consumers
Sometimes having to choose is a pain in the ass... What if a consumer likes Howard Stern on Sirius, but also likes MLB baseball on XM? They have to pay double and buy to recievers...
that sounds like less choice to me you freaking idiot! And as for duplicate channels... of course they will do away with duplicate channels. I have over 500 stations on my cable box... and it's annoying as hell navigating thru channels. I end up filtering out 450 of the 500 channels because I end up wasting time channel surfing instead of actually watching a show I like.
I know i'm getting off topic a bit.. But people against the merger are not looking out for the consumers best interests... They are in bed with terrestrial radio. I love my free radio too.. but when i buy a new car, I don't want to have to pick either/or for my premium radio service... I want BOTH for the same price.
And your trying to tell me I can't have that?!.. You sir are the idiot blocking my freedom to make a better choice....
Apple’s Momentum Will Continue
You are in such denial... Give me some statistics as to how iPHONE is a FLOP in Europe you putz! Name one other phone released in 10 years that sold as many phones as Apple did in the UK on day 1? Please tell me one single phone since the invention of the telephone that people waited in lines for... (even if they may have been staged / small lines).
FLOP?! You are insane... So what if the N80 has better reviews from CNET. Doesn't make it better because one website says so. I haven't seen a single person her in LA with a Nokia N80... Since the IPHONE was released 5 of my co-workers and a half dozen of my friends bought and IPHONE... The only reason I haven't yet is because I'm stuck with a Verizon contract thru July 2008... and I'm hoping by the time IPHONE 2.0 or atleast a 16GB iphone will be released.
IPHONE is the most desirable phone in the world... not everyone will buy it right away... just like not everyone owns a BMW or LEXUS... but everyone lusts and wants one and when they can afford it they buy it.
Apple's slowly growing it's marketshare.. it doesn't want to make it's phone a cheap commodity.. it wants to keep the iPHONE a luxury item and when they saturate the luxury market.. they'll make cheaper IPHONE nanos and such for the less afluent market.
the mementum isn't waning.. that's where you have it all wrong.. the momentum can't be stopped.. it's like a runaway freight train... get on or get run over.

Cisco Sell-off Puts Apple at a Discount
Either way.. no ones taking into account that some IPHONE buzz has died down over the past 5 months.. Most of the Apple fanatic fans in the UK and Germany bought an an unlocked IPHONE on EBAY 5 months ago. Of course the proportion of sales won't be as big as the U.S's intital release.
No one is refuting that the IPHONE is the best-selling $400 phone OF ALL TIME!!!! This bit of fact alone should have all phone companies messing their pants and scrambling to come up with competition and knock offs.. which they are doing. But Apple will always have the market cornered on the wealthy and sophisticated tech crowd. As well as the young tech-savvy teen and college crowd.. all of whom.. will grow up and keep buying Apple products and computers all their lives.

U.S. - Over 300 Million
Germany - 82 Million
U.K. - 60 Million
***
So, 270,000 on launch WEEKEND
U.K - 8,000 on LAUNCH night!! (first night) entire weekend probably just under 20,000.
Germany - 10,000 on FIRST night! (entire weekend probably just over 20,000).
For countries 1/5 and 1/4 the size of the us... selling a phone that's been widely available hacked to work anywhere for 6 months... I'd say it was pretty damn good sales numbers. very bad? SamiJ... you sir are and lunatic.
Is it record breaking sales for U.K. and Germany.. yes.. name another $400 phone that sold 10,000 on the first day of it's release... ??
All this going into Xmas buying season. and your trying to spin that as a bad thing for sales.. because it will invevitably slow down afterward? Ok, einstein... somebodies spreading some FUD because they are losing their ass shorting apple.
In proportion to our population... Germany and UK sold about 100,000 phones in the FIRST WEEKEND... not as good as the U.S.'s 270,000.. but this was 6 months after all the buzz had died down.
Think about it.. .Spiderman doesn't make as much money in the UK as the U.S... does that mean Spiderman is a failure as a movie?

You got to be kidding me.. someone should do a marketshare study of MacBooks in college.. oh yeah they did.. it's closer to 30%. Which is what Apple's marketshare will be in 5-10 years.
