The Congressional Bailout of Madoff's Investors [View article]
Well here we go again, this just show's what the lawmakers in washington are doing, they add little clauses into laws that no one will look into and they then pass the laws, this is where there is so much pork in the budget. We have got to change this rule by allowing the line item veto to pass then we can get rid of most of the waste in washington. Now about the Madoff investors, why should the SIPC have to bail them out. They should have read more carefully or they should have researched the fund, you can't just sink all your money into a hedge fund and be happy that you are getting a great return on the investment, even when the market is down. My Mother has an IRA that she very carefully follows and when she can follow it, then everyone who has money in a hedge fund should also follow it. Yes what Bernie Madoff did was horrible to the investors, but also they should have followed it up, especially when every year the fund was doing well in spite of the economy. As my Mother always say's, "If it's too good to be true, then it probably is not true". This adds to my dictum where investors have to look into what funds they have invested in and how they are making money. We can't just take them at face value!
Dollar's Days of Dominance Are Over [View article]
Just because countries like India,China and Russia say that there should be an alternative to the dollar, doesn't mean that they are going to shift overnight to another currency. The only other currencies they can shift to are the Euro,The sterling pound and the swiss francs. None of these economies are in better shape then that of the United States, and recently the swiss devalued there own currency. So as the old saying goes "Talk is cheap". I would like to see what other currencies they would like to float. The Chinese Yuan isn't available to the outside world. The rouble is a disaster, and even the russian's know that.
Ford Considering Jaguar Sale: Any Takers? [View article]
Jaguar is a car of the past, when there was no lexus or acura's around, Unless there is someone who can preform a miracle out there. Ford should'nt hold it's breath thinking some White Knight in shining armour is there to rescue them. Jaguar is a money losing venture ever since ford aquired them and they should do what Diamler did with Chrysler and just cut there loses at this point and dump it.
Starbucks and McDonald's: Goldman Makes Deutsche Look Reasonable [View article]
Well, It's true about the hare(Starbucks) and the turtle(McDonalds). While MCD was doing it's research and found what customers liked, starbucks refused to believe them and thought they were way ahead. Starbucks really needs to wake up and smell the coffee! Not just opening stores but also seeing what brings the customer back into the store.
