  • The Jobs Disaster Might Seal The Recession Deal  [View article]
Actually it was poorer retired folks buying in Vegas & Florida by in large. And, Az too. And, yes,it did take a bunch of years too unwind.Yes sir. Almost all bad loans were federally backed. The rest about 95% were all sold off in those groovy packages by the WS banksters.

I NEVER listen to Limwhatever, and been in the WS game for 81 years and 65 years in NY as a good Jewish democrat an owner of my own firm !

Seen this all happen over an over around the world ,but, root of evil in the USA was developed during Clinton 10 year... No question about it.. Not saying Bush didn't make it worse as he was not even close to a fiscal conservative. He was a big spending war monger.

Makes no difference to me as we were first up to bat in Henderson, Green Valley minutes from the Vegas strip buying up blocks of houses and also down in the Ft Lauderdale area sucking up condos by buildings. We were there cash in hand..

Now things are looking rosy !

PS... And, it is true some mega priced properties went under, but, the dot.com explosion caused them to be bid up to nose bleed levels.Who cared when worthless stocks were 500 per share.

  • Buy Qualcomm - It's The Intel Of Mobile  [View article]
AE, now your talking.. This is a chip stock that will give you a nice incline over the next bunch of years. It's a shame you put INTC in the title.. I do hope the many folks who read and enjoy your work will say, hmmmm, he likes INTC and QCOM ,but, I think i'll just buy one ! And, IMHO they should buy QCOM..

Just in case INTC blows a ton on their t/v deal and find it's a crowded field an too crowded for them to make money..

And, by the time their mobile chips are really ready to rock an roll the saturation of phones might drive the need for cheaper phones an more chip write downs for INTC. As it so often happens.

Clinton! He was truly responsible for both horrific factors that caused the GREAT recession ! Not Bush.

One ~ the dot.com crash! However, before the crash it was 110% the cause of the explosion in real estate prices spiking ! So,the real estate bubble was do to the dot.com fiasco and the dot.com fiasco was the ONLY reason the US Treasury ran a surplus as the Capital Gains revenue soared during the last 2 years of Clinton's term.

Then it collapsed under Bush, but,he inherited it from Clinton and good old Barney Frank ! Who, single handedly, got Fanny & Freddy to underwrite millions of bogus loans from the folks who never could pay for those homes.

Also, to say it was a real surplus ignores the reality of the horror he caused. And, like dozens before him and after him Clinton never addressed the those unfunded liabilities : which are the real deficits you all continue to ignore.

Then the final kicker was him signing an Executive Order on his way out of the WH dumping Glass Steigal..

    Talk about Teflon !

Remember, It was GWB who gave GM 40 billion an saved them and Obama's help came near year 3 of his term one and helped GM expand Mexico & China an export more jobs then any other time in US history. Then GWB gave you TARP. Which saved the US economy while Ben B. secretly shipping out a few trillion dollars around the world. This is the REAL fact that saved the world I.

And,Obama( aka Nero ) takes credit for it when he just fiddled and mucked things up.

PS.. I hate Bush & left the US because he was re-elected,but, when you don't live in the US and your not part of it ...the facts can been seen clearly.

When you live in the US you see all facts through the political filter your associated with.( aka blindness ! )

  • Apple Can Save Its Shareholders - But Will It?  [View article]
INTC CSCO & MSFT have been horrible investments for a decade an more because of this type on thinking ! If AAPL goes on this path it will be dead money for decades like INTC CSCO an MSFT.

Look at 10 years charts of these dead horses and see what happens when 95% of the sheeple buy the same symbols.

Compare these symbols to many other great names ( NKE QCOM MCD etc) an see they are up 200% or 300% in ten years and these 3 are even at best, but, add in dollar devaluation an inflation an you lost the dividends or more. NOT !

These are the same investments that cause the masses to have only an average 4% growth on the retirement accounts ! Geees

As usual you give us lots of info. Pros an cons, but, at the end you share your conclusion..It's not a short time share price lift AAPL needs.

The buyback of big dividend increase would be a short time price fix, but, might set in motion the destruction of AAPL..

A dying hardware makers ala NOK or BBRY.. And, BBRY & NOK were former giant companies. Not little ones.

AAPL needs to use the cash to move them out of the hardware business.. Steve Jobs had DIS in the company's site a decade back and probably made the worst blunder of his life not going after it.. It was easily doable .THEN !

However, AAPL needs a mega content buy ala DIS buying ESPN..As ESPN saved DIS an is there go to earnings pool. Even during the hard times sports never quits.

  • One of the fears of increased use of fracking for shale gas is the quantity of water used. But how much water does fracking really consume? A lot less than coal or oil, Jesse Jenkins calculates: "If shale gas is used to generate electricity at a combined cycle gas plant and displace coal-fired power, the quantity of water consumed per unit of electricity generated could fall on the order of 80%."  [View news story]
EPA has 1000s of new pages on fracking.Industry lawyers are working on it now to try an comply.Even the HCA has a few 1000 pages that will assist in regulating much of the fossil fuel industry..

It's coming. Give the new EPA lady a few days to get all her lawyers feet wet..

GWB, made a mess of the economy..... Wow, The last year of GWB was the best year the US Treasury ever had !

Entitlements as pointed out several times on this thread are unfunded in amounts beyond the ability of anyone on this thread to get a grip on !! ..

The 17 trillion current debt is a tiny joke. The US debt clock shows 75 trillion in unfunded liabilities, but, that amount is about a quarter of the real amount. At best !

So, the US economy was set on the path to destruction by FDR and the fate was sealed by LBJ.. Then came Obama..

He set in motion the drop of the US Reserve..With the FED's help. Then life in the US changes forever. 5 years tops.not the 20 years Sec Geitner pleaded with the IMF to give. Then in 5 years Obama will be retired giving speeches for millions per pop ! Then Hilary will turn the USA into a "State Capitalistic " country by fiat order.

I guess your an ostrich and your heads in the sand.If your going to use BLS #s then you must use the U6 number when looking at the 7.6%.. That way you can understand the 63.3% Jimmy Carter participation rate. It's been that long since the US had so few workers.

There all flocking to disability and Federal programs.Pays better.

And, the wonderful thing Mrs. Solice did during her term at the BLS was include part timers in the 7.6%.. Pssst, without that new stunt the rate is close to 10%

These numbers are horrific if your going to look at the 7.6% rate in the BLS context it's given.

Nowhere in the national anthem does its say purple covered dust liners majesty !

Anything that ends burning coal is worth 10 times the water use.Clean coal is oxymoron of all time.

Yeah, I hear China burns coal, but, they see the SMOG in the cities and their new green industry is growing & their green cities will lead the world.Or will be right behind Brazil. They get it..

Yeah 2, I know about Scandinavia ,but, there tiny places & had big head start.

  • Fisker Automotive, the struggling government-backed hybrid sports car maker, terminates 75% of its staff in what sources said was a last-ditch effort to conserve cash and stave off a potential bankruptcy filing. The company, which raised $1.2B from investors and tapped nearly $200M in government loans, has only around $30M in cash remaining. About 160 workers were fired at a Friday morning meeting at its Anaheim, Calif., headquarters, and were told that the company couldn't afford to give them severance payments.  [View news story]
These were political paybacks. They were never business investmants. The secret of almost every one of these green gifts was the speed of the unwind. The faster they got to bankruptcy the more of the cash they could pocket.. Now they can regroup and get there news scams ready for Hilary ! They'll back her & then line up for the dole outs in 2016.

It is getting ridiculous to even use Gov #s... How can the BLS show less jobs than ADP ? We don't see the drop in Gov jobs and the ADP payroll number is a real #..

I talked about the 100% chance of a recession in 2013 in mid 2012 and posters slammed me.. Well, the fact that folks use the 2 quarters of negative GDP isn't a set in stone policy, but, "thee" group of economists who make the call fall back on it to hold off the call.

Whether they make it or not 1/2 the country never left the recession & do to the vote buying concept in the USA an the 2 year election cycle not much will change. Even the bulk of Republican realize that is how the game is played an earmarks are back and if the right doesn't pony up with there voters there toast. So, yes the US will be in recession, but, 70/30 the call won't be made.

  • Which matters more - this week's selloff in the Dow Transports which had the bulls running scared, or today's big late-day comeback? Transport stocks are seen as leading indicators of economic activity; as they go, so goes the rest of the market. So watch those transports - they led the market on the way up for much of the year, and they could be leading the way down.  [View news story]
Defensive dividends powered higher even Mreits.. This means folks know they have no other option but the market and are playing the yields as extra protection.. Today wasn't the only bad news day. There have been days of it including Cyprus and soon Portugal to come.

Were churning and will move higher as rich an well to do consumers will buy enough to overshadow the havenots.

And Vice Chair Ms Yellen let out a hawkish barb yesterday, but, the job numbers crushed her bid to look good for the other side of the isle if a conformation occurs.

IMHO the market is going to make many new highs by months end.

  • The U.S. economy is in a bubble inflated by “phony money” from the Fed and will burst within a few years, David Stockman warns; when it bursts, the U.S. "will descend into an era of zero-sum austerity and virulent political conflict." Paul Krugman calls Stockman’s conclusions "pathetic and embarrassing... full of big numbers that are scary because they’re big numbers.”  [View news story]
Hen, I'd pick Israel over the US.There doing things the US isn't yet.First class liver guys ! And, I could afford the cost on Mars, but, I went there !

I'm very glad to hear about you wife. Was a time when they didn't think liver would regenerate..

Panama does have Johns Hopkins in Panama City and is as good as it gets too..US doctors and all the bells an whistles too. I've been there and seen the chiefs in two departments for diagnoses. Even though my Panama insurance doesn't cover that place. No biggie ..:>))

    Like I said I don't have insurance for J/H ,but,doctor charges were $ 30 & $ 35.Blood tests were $ 2.50 and $ 9.00...... You can't even get a cab for that in the States..

Costa Rica has Great doctors for the thousands of foreigners who go for medical tourism, but, 95% of Costa Ricans couldn't even afford the initial visit !

    G-d Bless ! DAL :)
