  • With China potentially overtaking the U.S. as the world’s top oil importer by 2014, its demand for oil is such that it is willing and able to trade with Iran. A China-flagged crude oil tanker stopped at Iran’s main oil export facility last month and is now headed home, fueling speculation China may be deploying its own vessels to ferry Iranian crude. Despite sanctions, Iran is still China’s no. 4 supplier.  [View news story]
This isn't news ! This has been for a long time and China/India an most of Iran's clients were EXEMPT from the sanctions from day 1 !

Iraq has also provided Iran with dummy receipts to sell to other too.
Lets see if Venezuela continues to ship Iran's oil in their tankers now that Hugo is gone ! That is how much of Iran's oil has been freely moving ! And, lets not forget ! 75% of Iran's ships have been re-flagged years ago. So, sanctions have been a silent joke !

China imports more oil than the US for a long time now.Who wrote this current !?

  • Intel Continues To Prove Naysayers Wrong  [View article]
Naysayer ? I'm a naysayer and said so when you said good things when INTC was 28. INTC is $21.05... That is what all bulls an bears think it's worth right now. Everyday others announce new chips and then whole batches of chips INTC makes an other maker's make get there prices slashed.

That's what has happened to AMD so many times. I still think INTC's a great company ,but, there are better places for the ppl to invest.Gotta stop hanging with the heard the so called experts steer you all in too.

  • The number of states that have joined an investigation into Libor manipulation has grown to 30 in recent months, with Arizona, Delaware, Iowa and Maryland reportedly joining the likes of New York and Connecticut. The states appear to be sanguine about a judge's recent decision to dismiss private antitrust claims against 16 banks, as the ruling differentiated between enforcement actions and private lawsuits.  [View news story]
Number of States only 30.. Geees, here we go ! All State's have a trial lawyer with General before there names..

Me too me too. I want to Governor someday..

They see shareholders as the deep pockets as the banksters are too big to jail,so, punish the everyday folks.

  • The U.S. economy is in a bubble inflated by “phony money” from the Fed and will burst within a few years, David Stockman warns; when it bursts, the U.S. "will descend into an era of zero-sum austerity and virulent political conflict." Paul Krugman calls Stockman’s conclusions "pathetic and embarrassing... full of big numbers that are scary because they’re big numbers.”  [View news story]
ha ha ha my friend.. Ca cities are going to crumble one by one because of the politicos who spent a massive fortune buying those DEM votes via ridiculous pensions.Geees, they set themselves up for a lifetime of them ! Seriously sad and now it's biting them in the tushy !

  • The Fed Is Not Pushing Stock Prices Higher  [View article]
Yep. the heard thinks alike ! I see the giant variable here is China. In 2010 they feared the US debt and sold 97% of their entire US Gov short term paper an cut back the long term buys. However,7 months ago the did a 180 ! Now the last 6 months have been record Chinese buying. China is the 800 pound gorilla now in the US treasury market and this is what David Stockman gets wrong. Did Sec Lew work a deal recently as did Sec Geitner in his first big trip ?

China must halt the assent of the Yuan or slow it down !! In recent S O U speech Obama said I got China to move the Yuan 11% and we want them to do a little more. Well. this can't continue in China's eyes !

The steady climb hurts their master plans to grow domestics an keep exports growing will too. Should an event Mr. Stockman touts seem on the horizon it would trigger a massive wave of Chinese buying in amounts the Fed couldn't dream of trying to buy. They need to protect over a billion folks an other BRICS partners.

China buying helps keep USD strong against the basket an slows the Yuan's climb too.

  • Best mREITs As Mortgage Rates Rise  [View article]
Here is an angle on the rate story only I seem to be seeing. China !
Yes, we all hang on every word King Ben says. But, the stock market has hit several new highs on two averages..And,the Nasdaq ,sadly, needs to overcome the dot.com fiasco ,but, it has done well too ! But, US Bonds have held nicely as well.

    Why ?!

The FED isn't buying Treasuries at anywhere near the amounts to be driving the rates lower and even the EU $s searching for safety isn't doing it either. What I see is China reversing it's 2010 an 2011 policy of dumping the 97% of short US Gov holdings and for the past 6 months is now buying like wild men ! Record amounts ! This is supporting the US Bond market and they are doing it to halt or slow the Yuan's steady climb. As Obama said in his S~O~U speech I pushed the Yuan 11% in my first term and we want them to do more. Well, China can't continue to let it keep rising at that pace an meet their 5 year master plan or the 10 year domestic plan if currency issues hurt their progress.

I think their going to continue to buy big to keep the USD creeping higher against the basket while they an there BRICS allies set up there own clearing bank an forge slowly ahead towards the eventual Reserve drop. I see a ten year target. Not the twenty year target Sec Geitner assumes.

I'm not sure if this was agreed upon when Sec Lew recently went to China, but, after Sec Geitner's first trip how the tone did change an China was praised. Sadly for us Mr Geitner was truly fluent in Mandarin an nothing ever leaked out as no translators were used in closed door meetings,,but, Sec Lew doesn't speak it an maybe something will leak from a fly on the wall.

So, I see the rates staying lower longer even if US employment picks up as China will do what it takes to keep her economy driving forward.I'm long big on many Mreits, but, do try an keep the ones that have non~agency or decent hedge options.
    I particularly like WMC's plan !

NOTE: long all but 3 of these. NLY MITT MFA BUT use tight stops

Taking 100% MUST be job 1 for NOK..The smart phone war will rage forever and margins will continue to keep shrinking.

This division is shinning star. They need to go for it instead of getting a new partner

Hi Hen, you know me well ! And, also should know ( remember) the 50 million per month we donate now doesn't go to any of the folks in the USA. And, better than that ; especially those who support your socialist friends..

We don't see our kids in shelters with Iphone s and the poor here don't get $ 80,000 per year for there vote an then remain just sponges for four years.

Even the big Dem folks on your side are wining about how there medical costs have soared in just 3 years ! Wait..

@bank, your right, but, psssst.. They won the war & conservatives need to find a country with a parliamentary system to move to.

You heard it here first in 2012 and Here it here first for 2016 !

I pounded the SA threads with the" LATIN Vote would crush Romey !" I nailed it and here this now..

What ever candidate the Republicans field in 2016 he/she can only dream about getting the 29% of Latins Romney got, but, they won't.Under 20% next time ! Nor will they make any gains with the largest group of immigrants ! The Asians.

Enjoy the new world liberal order !
As you know I MOVED ! I used my feet ala Reagan and paid to dump my Passport.

Hi WhiteH.. I agree there. Equities are the best protection on any event like that ! Only land is a better thing to own, but,it's the currency that takes the hit ! Even if they call it inflation, but, stocks will just re~price according to the value of the fiats being used.!

Krugman aside ! If you think China would let an event happen while the USD is still the "reserve" than folks are as crazy as David Stockman. He seems to forget this is a global economy and the US has a mere 300 million ppl.

If an event like Mr. Stockman touts would start to develop the Chinese would step in and buy US Treasuries in amounts that Fed Ben could only dream about. They would have to too save their economy and keep the Yuan from rocketing to par with the USD.

Should time pass and the USD loose it's reserve status then it's possible. But, not until.. Will it be as Sec Geitner stated with meetings with the IMF as two decades ? I doubt it,but, at least one decade from now.

@Pwdrskir,If they hold sure !! They just hold until they mature an get full face value ! The 6~7% rate would only be on the new issued bonds the Treasury might sell. "IF" The ones the Fed hold now are fixed and the yield is determined by the price on issue date when they did the fancy two step with the US Treasury via a broker.

Here is what Mr Stockman and most all don't get ! In order for the collapse in the magnitude David is claiming the US economy would go crazy. Why, because the value of the dollar would plunge.

O/k,.... BUT.... if that happens the world gets slammed and especially China ! Their Yuan would double in value towards the USD and that destroys their economy..

In the event that a situation like that started to develop China would buy US Treasuries in amounts that would make the Fed look like poor little N Korea ! They would have too to protect their economy and feed their citizens !!.

Punch kick and stab me,but, I actually agree with Prof. Krugman here.. Mr Stockman is clearly over the top.. Prof Siegel is probably right and Fed should hold half the 3 trillion permanently. Then unwinding will be a non event and Ben did say we can hold until maturity.

Get the US GDP to 4% and somehow do lots more sequesters ~ then US would be fine.
