  • Weyerhaeuser's Reaction Indicates the End of the Rally Is Near [View article]
I saw some interesting data last week from John Mauldin that indicated that 2009 will show a respite from residential mortgage resets. However, the same data showed that in 2010, residential mortgage resets will begin again in earnest, peaking in 2011 at even higher levels than during 2007 and 2008! Thus suggests that more pain is yet to come.

  • Another Big Bank Failure: More Likely Than Not to Occur [View article]
The Fed is printing too much, Congress is spending too much, and the Treasury is borrowing too much. That is all I need to know to be certain the end will be UGLY!

  • Another Big Bank Failure: More Likely Than Not to Occur [View article]
The entire banking system is insolvent, not just a handful of banks. Even the FDIC is insolvent. It simply doesn't have the funds in its trust to cover the deposits it insures. It is inevitable that more big banks will fail, and eventually, we will all wake up to the reality that the government can't cover it all. Who is going to bail out the government? We have seen the enemy, and unfortunately, the enemy is US!

  • FDIC Graphs Show the Extent of the Financial Crisis [View article]
Well written article. Nice charts and graphics!

Eventually, the FDIC will run out of funds, even if Congress seeks to recapitalize it. Then, a run on the banks is inevitable. Maybe our grandparents were right -- that the safest place for our money is under the matress!

  • Wall Street Breakfast: Must-Know News [View article]
I'm neither Democrat nor Republican. I think they all stink. But Kelly Lieberman, if you really feel that way, why not move to Cuban or Venezuela, where you can enjoy fruits of your philosophies? Venezuela, thanks to a Marxist dictator, now has widespread food shortages in a country that used to provide for its own, and enjoys vast oil wealth. Socialism and its believer keep promoting its destructive philosophies again and again, despite its repeated failures.

Mr. Levy keeps posting the same post throughout. It is pure spam, intended to tease people to his site, where he sells books. The books are as silly as his too-often-repeated posts.

  • Jim Cramer's 10 Predictions for 2008 [View article]
    Here's an alternate to #10:
The Fed continues to lower rates to near zero, devaluing the currency into the dust, and inflation goes through the roof while we have nevertheless experience stagflation. Today's skyrocketing commodities (oil, gold, grains, softs all hit record highs today) prices and plunging stock market are the beginning of the fulfillment of this prediction.
