  • Is the New Smart Grid ETF That Smart? [View article]
Gotta agree the Index creators, don't know squat and are out for a fast buck, while the ETF providers just does care when profits (and investors) are to be had. I can't see much difference between these turkeys ('is the season) and the twits at Wilderhill or HSBC. The smartgrid sector is so narrow, that they gotta stretch to 1) buy stocks with even marginal exposure to smart grid, and 2) buy lousy companies just because they're in the "sector". Sounds more like stupid grid.

IMHO there's a light-year of difference between these twits out for a quick buck and the kind of research and strategy done by Ardour Capital (some smart folks) or the Cleantech Group for their indexes and ETFs. I mean, why is GE a smart grid company - does it have material exposure? Get real. Half the smart grid companies in the index are also redundant. Where's the diversification there?

  • Demand Response Specialist CPower Snags Cash from Intel [View article]
CPower actually provides the best service of any of the Demand-Response service providers that we have seen and the difference is huge. Utility-based providers in particular only skim the cream off the market, but CPower actually helps the customer conserve energy all the time, not just at peak hours. Moreover, it is technology neutral and doesn't lock customers into expensive proprietary hardware.
