Basic Food Fund Still Outperforming the Market [View article]
I like your style, and your analysis. I too am long on a few of these issues, sometimes wishing I had waited to pull the trigger on some (PBY NOW). My faith & experience along with your philosophy, encourage me to buy more on the "dips". I do, however have some apprehension as to returning to their previous highs. These are such uncertain times. Thanks for your columns. Dan
Starbucks: Two Years of Missteps and an Overdue Admission [View article]
This from one who has owned 'BUX for over 14 yrs;
Howard Schultz is a marketing wizard. He loves his baby.
Maybe not for a few years, but Starbucks WILL rise again.
I intend to BUY, no hurry, and I have grandchildren who will be thrilled that this co. is part of the family portfolio. After enjoying two 2 for 1 splits, and selling some at $38 a few years ago, I'm playing with "house money"... BUY ! at anything in single digits - it WILL come around again down the road.
Is Starbucks a Bargain? It Almost Goes Without Saying [View article]
I've been fortunate w/ 'bux... Had it for two 2 for1's, sold a few hundred at the top (about $38), now own a nice block for free! - I WILL acquire more, in these changing times, see no need for expediency. Suggest that anyone interested in this issue read Howard Schultz' autobiography. I believe that a philosophy such as his can only succeed, especially with him at the helm. It'll take time... I have grandchildren... At 8, it's a deal, but in these uncertain, unexplainable times, could yet drop more. - As always, DO THE RESEARCH !

I've owned SBUX since the 90's... Just lucky, I sold 1/2 (400 shares), just a few years ago @ $37... now what I own cost me nothing. I'll wait it out, thanks. It DOES seem tempting at less than $10.00
Healthcare REITs: Still Doing Well, But Will That Trend Continue? [View article]
Healthcare REITS, if one does the research, and chooses carefully, are still one of the few safe places to be; I've contributed automatically, and regularly for fifteen years. The returns have been consistently in the high single, low double digit dividends. We're in the DRIP plan, so they've doubled in value a few times, and right now, like everything else, they're down in stock price. To me, this is an excellent time to buy all you can afford. It's not for anything other than a long term plan, but solid. - Take a look at SNH, IRETS, HRP, - DO the research.

As an SBUX trader for 16 years, I really believe in Howard, the company has made me a lot of $, and the 100's of shares I still hold cost me 0.... PAY ATTENTION
I think with Schultz at the wheel, sbux will turn around. Whoever said "they don't get much business abroad".. check your facts - they open 3 stores a day worldwide
Starbucks is Struggling for Renewed Success [View article]
P.S. - Disclosure; I don't drink SBUX coffee. "The Coffee Fool" has a better line, and is a better dollar-value. For ROI it's SBUX..... be of good faith.

Once again, I'll say that my money's on Howard. - Read the bio. This guy WILL bring his baby back. To repeat; when SBUX hit 37, I took money off the table, ALL that I ever put in, and then some. That left me with hundreds more shares, because I bought it all the way up, and owned it while it split 2/1 three times. Yes, it's a long view, but, they continue to open 4-5 stores a day worldwide. As the new globalization phenom. grows, so will Starbucks. - Don't look for a qick return, buy it for your IRA. or your kids college fund. I believe in it wholeheartedly.
