What prairiedog said. SA isn't full of click bait and teasers. Also, by being free, authors here get some serious peer review. Making the articles here, by far the best consistently on the web.

I agree with Sermer, I like SA, but I don't want to have to pay for articles that have real information. I used to like the Motley Fool, but the articles that were free were always selling something. Which makes them painful to read

  • Prospect Capital: A Cheap Cigar Butt? [View article]
I think that with the reduced div. I stopped DRIping, but if I were, I'd be buying only 75% per month of what I was orig buying. Making it harder for DRIPs to support the stock price

  • PepsiCo Ends Quarter Filled With Strong Product Launches And Continued Speculation [View article]
Very nice write up. Not the normal recycled stuff.
That said, one major factor left out, is the Tingyi-Asahi bottling(TAV) venture in China. This was money losing, and now that it is in the hands of management that can turn a profit. I see more profit coming from China. Esp that coupled with TAB's greater reach into the interior of the country.
Pep has a 5% stake in TAB now, with options to bring it to 20%.

Pep is smart, sell most of you over seas Bottlers. Or in most cases a large % of them. Let local companies deal with the cultural differences. While keeping the profitbale and easy to run US bottlers company owned.

Thanks. It is good to make some risky, yet sensible trades. DGI is great, but it is also good to try and find some stocks that can offer some serious returns. To me, this is like lottery ticket money. Only with a better chance of getting a payout.

  • General Electric: Fair Value Of $38+ And Dividend Yield Approaching 4% Make An Investment In GE A No-Brainer [View article]
I own some GE, and honestly the shares need to dip below 10B. They haven't, and have gone up a bit in the past year. This, and executive pay needs to go down.

LMT is a solid company. Even with how things are going n the Fed govt, I think at worst, things will stagnant. But with their non-military/space/what not sector, they should have decent growth as well.
That was certainly a gamble. Not in the way that it was going to lose your money, but you def had a chance at losing out to the broader market. I am glad when i hear someone's gamble has paid off
You didn't need BA if you had LMT. You had it sewn up, in just one position.
Me too. PSEC is for fun, and for possibly money. I like MAIN much more, and my position is twice that of PSEC's
    Good luck.

Good on you. I think I need to add a stop loss, but I don't care that much. I only own 45 shares after all.
Did you invest in Lockheed? Not a bad pick. I chose BA, and have done well also. Aerospace is def the place to be, and def was 2-3 years ago. My BA shares are up over 100% since I bought them 3 years ago.

  • Should McDonald's Spin Out A McREIT? [View article]
Yes, why bleed the franchises in order to get a small boost now? A good thought, but this is VERY short term thinking.

  • How General Electric's Buyback Leads To 10% Annual Dividend Growth [View article]
Too bad the share count is up this year. 10.06B now up from 10.04B at the end of last year. Only reason I hang on to my shares, is to vote NO for anything and everything relating to the board and comp.

I think that PSEC is a decent buy, but it is risky. I feel that MAIN is a safer bet. I am long both, but my position in MAIN is double that of PSEC

Indeed, no reason to have that odd ball crossover holdings anymore. I too would like to see it merged. As it makes it less weird/complicated.

  • Spinoff spotlight hits PepsiCo again [View news story]
How could Pep buy DPS? The reason why Cad spun them off in NA only was because the US wouldn't allow Coke/Pepsi to buy em out. 100% out of the question.

Also, who cares if you get a quick 20% jump in the stock price? It doesn't do anything else for you after that. As you won't be able to get the div gains/nor sustainability that comes with a diversified port. Really this is for short term gains and for take overs, nothing more

I don't think spin offs are always good. In Pepsi's case I see it hurting their ability to merchandise and to negotiate sales space.

  • Why Dunkin' Brands Deserves A Close Look [View article]
Good question. Here in Japan BK is pretty popular, and has some serious price points. It is almost like SBUX for ice cream. The Japanese do eat donuts, and given how popular MR Donuts is, I am not sure why no one else is really trying outside of KK.
I do believe that the deal with JollyBees in CHina may pay off though and get Dunkin to start expanding more overseas
