  • IPG Photonics - Attractive Multi-Year Growth Play For Opportunistic Investors [View article]
I am long on IPGP and believe they have a wide moat in their line of business which will enable them to grow at or above the market growth rate. My concern is about the sudden share price drops for no good reason, or at least no new developments that justify the price drops.

Why does this stock have such a high short interest > 35%? I used today's 10% price drop (which I have no clue as to why) to add this name to my portfolio.

  • Egypt Struggles [View article]
Two of the most important foreign currency revenue in Egypt are tourism and fees from Suez Canal. Tourism took a hit due to the recent political unrest and lack of confidence in Egyptian security and safety measures to safeguard tourists, and Sues Canal fees have declined due to global economic slowdown.

  • Intel And Cisco Head-To-Head [View article]
Thanks Ray, great article about two great tech names. For me I have owned both companies for a year or so and had to sell due to stock price stagnation during that period but I am thinking to return back to buy some CSCO shares. My question is regarding potential revenue growth in Asia and China in particular. INTC and QCOM are investing in China and partnering with local manufacturers I guess to secure their market share and grow revenue, but I am not sure what CSCO is doing to grow revenue in Asia/China and the impact of the NSA scandal and recent leadership changes?

  • Stocks end week lower amid jitters over China, potential rate hike [View news story]
Does it make sense that everyone suddenly discovered that the market is currently overvalued and began a sell off indiscriminately? My portfolio has 20 stocks all with low P/E and low EV/EBITDA and all are down by 6% since August.

I am just wondering if anyone actually is making money in this market, or using their cash to buy the dips because those dips continue to be falling knives not opportunities.

  • Stocks: Perspectives On The Selloff [View article]
Thank you for the detailed analysis and reminding us that the sky is not falling yet. I think the panic selling last week was caused by stop loss orders being triggered by the sudden sharp decline in major indices. I am a long term investor but still have several blue chip stock positions sold off by stop loss orders that would be triggered by a loss more than 10% of the initial purchase price.
I cancelled all my stop loss orders during the weekend because I still believe this sharp drop will not lead to something bigger and the declines were across all stock sectors not just in my portfolio.

The important question here really is what was the root cause of the sharp decline last week and how does it relate to other global markets changes or the bear market for the materials and energy sectors.
