Goodbye, Commerce Bancorp: Vernon Hill Mourns the End of an Era
Vernon, you old entrepreneur, what the hell are you going to do now? How about a Canadian oil producer ETF
with debit cards for those of us that want our bank backed with real assets? Let's talk...

Shorting ETFs - Goodbye To The Old Risks
Great article, very important information for investors to be able to protect portfolios.
Our partnership has spent a year building a position in recession-resistant industries.
When the head & shoulders top in the indexes was confirmed, we laid on hedges short EFT indexes and index futures to protect the portfolio.
Now we are adding crash resistant stocks at support, and selling poor performers on rallies. The hedges are now the core position, since the bear has been confirmed....

The Evolution of the Hedge Fund Industry
Excellent article. I enjoy the heads-up approach to this casino we call a market. "decades of regulations designed primarily to protect", Regulation is a joke, CFTC does pretty well, but SEC is corrupt, useless, and doesn't protect anybody. Did they help with Enron? How about the $6 trillion lost in the 2000-2003 crash? How about allowing these funds to operate on ridiculous amounts of leverage, drastically increasing their influence on the markets way beyond any realistic economic measure. Off-exchange derivatives -swaps, on options, on futures etc is so far from real markets as to be laughable. The idea of public disclosure to assist price discovery in a free market is out the window. The "surprise-theory of economics" has supplanted even the discredited Keynesian school. The mortgage securities meltdown is just the first sign of this "pie-in-the sky" financial market. Every 5 bucks taken out of the banks deflates their balance sheets by $100.
The air is leaking from the baloon.Market transparency is possible in real time via the internet. Regulation is a fraud for the purpose of making sheep think everything is OK. Nothing could be further from the truth........

      New Electric Vehicles Coming Soon
The electric vehicles are a way overdue phenomenon. But don't think it will have any effect on climate, since climate change is happening on all planets and has nothing to do with auto emissions. Go to IceAgeNow.com and find out what is really going on with climate.

Comparing Crude Oil Price Trends Across 10 Currencies
Pretty interesting.. Since Canada such a big producer, they've got a nice built in hedge there. For my taste,
I'd like to see it with the little (trade weighted) currencies left out, and be curious to see gold in there (it's a 'currency' too). As a matter of fact, I see a pretty good pattern correlation between oil & gold lately anyway. If Saudi and Iran are linking to gold and Euro, would make sense for them. bst rgds-

Energy Trader: O-Day and N.A. Natural Gas & Tankers
      Nice meaty analysis,

here's an update on SFL (12)

"vulnerable charts will see the worst damage".

Your article written 7 days ago, but SFL has since
rallied off oversold support to break out and now consolidating. Some supply overhead but odds
appear that a low is in for awhile. Probable worst
case is further sideways consolidation but at 8%
a comfortable place to park. bst rgds -
