We also need to put money into developing and demonstrating new types of Nuclear power plant that cannot have runaway reactions (inherently safe) and utilizes more of the fuel. I am talking about Pebble Bed reactors. Looking futher into the future we should develop and construct fast breeder nukes which will provide us with almost perpetual energy.

While we are doing the above, mankind also has to start thinking about limiting then reducing the world's unsustainable population growth. Individuals in Russia and nothern Europe have already made their decisions to have smaller families or no children at all. People in the developing world (includes China and India) have to buy into it.
