Merits and Faults of Buybacks

It's simply a tool some will use wisely and others not. They are a one time dividend and should have a short term stock only until paid unless then are so frequent they become an expected event. Of course many companies announce but don't follow through quickly or state an unreasonable buyback period in an attempt to game the system.
