I don't think the AT&T acquisition you mentioned is a good example. My recollection is that Cingular was somewhere between 33% and 50% owned by SBC (Southwestern Bell Corp) to begin with. I think SBC acquired AT&T and then adapted the AT&T name. AT&T before being acquired by SBC had previously sold off their wireless unit. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Anyway there were many big events taking place.
