    Steve Ballmer said during an interview that Stephen Elop is both an internal and external candidate.
    As far as I know, Stephen Elop is the only confirmed candiate. Nobody else has been confirmed by Microsoft.

    Here you are rephrasing a baseless rumor as a fact. Elop switched Nokia to Windows Phone because of Microsoft Ecosystem. So he will destroy Microsoft Ecosystem by selling off Xbox, Bing?

    Alan Mulally as a care taker CEO for a few years doesn't make sense to me. If Microsoft need a car taker, why not let Steve Ballmer stay for a few more years? There's only 12 days between Steve Ballmer announed retirement( Aug 23rd) and Microsoft announced to acquire Nokia( Sep 3rd). It make me think that these two are related.
