      One thing for sure ... Apple TV was dead and a FLOP starting the day after this piece of sh!t was released. Reasons? Too many to list, but most prevalent - Pixelized picture on any decent sized TV, NO HD, did I say NO HD, Apple crap only content, no recording capabilities outside of Apple CRAP content, AND (fan fare) IT'S THE USUAL APPLE OVER-PRICED!

      Ps, the set top box ain't going anywhere in the foreseeable future because a minority of TV's are on Broadband and too many people need a digital box for old TV's, which in a recession aren't going to be replaced any time soon.

      Hey "PK de C'ville", don't you mean "EXPLODING notebooks, desktops, and mobiles (iPuds)" ??? Apple's history of FLAWED AND FAULTY iBooks, PowerBook and iPuds catching fire, batteries exploding and iPuds burning owners in their pockets is WELL DOCUMENTED on the Internet!

      Also "growing consumer and business movement from WIndows to Mac OSX" is FIGMENT of your Apple Kool Aid Fantasy Land imagination! According to Gartner Research the US consumer market has ONLY changed 1% share and Business 0%! Oh the world of Apple Denial.

      Ps. The iphone has BOMBED in the EU and especially the UK where Apple claimed it would soar like you have, instead it has been a Cold Soar.

      And "Brewer" - WHERE has FireWire gone??? Apple has totally failed with FW800, the once promised FW 1600 and 3200 is NO WHERE IN SIGHT and FW400 has VANISHED off some Apple notebooks!! You are SOooooo full of it! ANOTHER APple Kool Aid Drinker!

      BTW! - Did you KNOW that Apple NEVER MANUFACTURED or Engineered a SINGLE PowerBook, iBook or any of the current crop of Buggy notebooks!!??

      Sony / IBM of Japan MADE, DESIGNED and ENGINEERED EVERY PowerBook from the VERY BEGINNING, including the 100! (It's documented on the Internet, a little digging will enlighten you) All you have to do is turn over every PowerBook and see "Made In Japan" - Proof!

      Of course now, the garabage MacBooks and MacBook Pros are made at the very same Slave Labor Chinese Sweatshops as the Dells .... THAT is just tooooo funny!

      Apple Buybacks: Still a Bad Idea
      "spend on R&D" To all that want to see Apple spend on R&D, lets have grip on REALITY. Apple's R&D is to buy designs and product being engineered and manufactured in Red China, Taiwan, Korea, Singapore or Indonesia; then sketching out a cute wrapper to put on it (out side) and brand it as Apple!

      Point of FACT and examples - EVERY Mac notebook up to 1999 was designed and manufactured by Sony/IBM in Japan and just "wrapped" for Apple. The Apple Airport "graphite" was DESIGNED and manufactured by a Lucent contractor in Ohio and then "wrapped" in an Apple flying saucer for branding! The iMac was Hyundai in Korea, iBooks at first were Quanta, then any LOW BIDDER in Taiwan but built in China (hence the years of iBook failures).

      Apple's idea of R&D is traveling between Chinese and pacific rim sweatshops and picking products.

      Oh but YOU still pay the Apple phony "designed in California" Premium.

      How about having GREEDY Apple actually use some of their BIllions to PAY AAPL stock holders a GD Dividend like other Legitimate and Gold Standard publicly traded companies do!! Companies like HP, IBM, Cisco, etc. etc.

      As long as Stevie Gods has been at the helm of Apple, Apple hasn't paid a stinking penny of Stock Dividends, while being one of the Cash Richest companies in Tech.

      No, instead Apple fixes illegal Stock Options for Stevie and the Exec Crew .... and of course buys Stevie Gods a $80 Mil Private Jet. I suggest that this tells alot about a company, and Apple in particular.

      To answer the very first question .... he didn't BUY IT, most likely as with the vast majority of Apple Hack journalists, the author probably got the iPud Touch for FREE from Apple.       Hmmm, other than Cold Mountain (which bombed and a critical pan), I'd say JArhead and Youth Without Youth proves my point! Movies with names that drip from everyone mouth .... NOT. As I said NAME A MAJOR PRODUCTION, a Major TV show, that was done on FCD!
