  • Oil: Refining Is King - It's More Than The Strike [View article]
Refiners buy oil on WTI and sale product on Brent price. The refiners in the south are making the most of the situation. MPC, VLO and PSX all have pipelines to the sweetest crude coming out of Texas. What is sweet is the spread and the money these companies are raking in.

  • How Chesapeake Energy Plans To Unlock Substantial Shareholder Value [View article]
I was on the fence with CHK. I wish I would have taken a 1,000 shares at 16 per share. Comparing CHK to DVN is a little scary due to the heavy oil in Canada which is losing every quarter. As of now I'm in the game with CHK.

    Thanks Brett

PS yes I had already done my DD, they were on the back burner

  • Cabot Oil & Gas lower on Deutsche downgrade [View news story]
Buy in August on cue then sell in February when the storage fields are 3/4 empty.
COG will cycle for a six to eight dollar gain buying and selling during these shoulder months. Storage fields should be getting close to 3/4 full with only a month to go in injection season which officially ends beginning October 1 each year.
Withdrawal season ends March 31 each year. Maintenance on storage fields usually takes place in April and October.

  • These 5 ETF Charts Are Killing 'Risk-On' Exhilaration [View article]
    @Green Elmo
Are you reading the same article? Gary points out that the banks aren't lending to consumers at very low rates. That's what the chart is showing. The banks are headed down due to their lending or lack of leading.
    Thanks Gary

  • Rice Energy: Monster Bigfoot Well Is The Utica's Biggest Yet - Shares Have 50% Upside [View article]
I just came across this piece and is a good article about Rice Energy. I have skin in Rice and COG. I wrote to myself that Rice is a mini-me to Cabot. Rice doesn't have two rigs running in Eagle Ford either, nor do they have a signed contract for LNG's starting in 2015. As Cabot has drilled they have signed hedges and transportation contracts to stay with their drilling program. That is what I like about Rice also. Both companies are well managed and have good acreage to draw from. What bothers me is COG has been around for sometime and Rice IPO in January 2014, COG is 14.6B Rice 4.2B in market cap, Rice is only 2.41 dollars cheaper in stock price. COG can't keep their price in the 40's for very long. Is Rice getting love because he is the new kid with P/E ratio of 40.8 vs 42.8 for COG.Either COG should have a higher price or Rice a lower price. I have the same amount invested in both companies as natural gas prices are only going up as pipes are laid and chemical plants burn away. First LNG plant is close to coming on line with many more to follow on both coasts and the gulf if permitting happens.

  • 4 Confident And Secure Companies Boosting Dividends [View article]
Charlie, great plan I've been buying natural gas companies for a year. Cabot COG was first not counting STR which I accumulated over the years. Rice Energy is an IPO this year that is looking good. They are moving another rig to Eagle Ford without taking away from their nat gas rigs. I also purchased Pattern Energy PEGI which owns wind farms. We have to remember the same people who ran natural gas prices into the ground are now drilling for NGL's so soon oil prices will fall due to the lack of infrastructure and the glut of oil above ground waiting for a place to go or back at the lateral to the wellhead.
You also nailed Questar on the filling stations and spinning them off. They learned their lesson on building the company on assets they know little about. I was happy when I learned their new venture was still in their wheelhouse.

  • Warren Buffett Continues To Bet On The Bakken [View article]
Jerry has said some correct assumptions, the poor don't have two cars or two of anything but children. Since they are poor it is cheaper to set home and collect government money than to try and find a job.
You mention Warren and the President together. When will the public realize that the President is a puppet being moved by the machine of Berkshire Hathaway. In years gone by the old saying was the democrats give and republicans take away thus the rule only 8 years for anyone. As seen from the last two presidents maybe that's to long. Just to think for every action there is an equal reaction. The reason I say this, I keep thinking of one hanging chad! Then only 2 bush's with the same problem, one term and done. Keep up the John Wayne style Bret. Only keep using the pen as your sword. Effective, quick and they don't even know they've been inked.

  • Bearish Inventory Report Doesn't Change Bullish Outlook For Natural Gas [View article]
The one item I haven't seen mentioned is NGV's. Houston just had two major NG stations go operational in December. Clean Energy CLNE and Questar Fuels STR built the largest stations. CLNE has a 20 year contract with UPS and has the Texas triangle built. That's Houston to San Antonio & Mesquite. Questar is building stations along I-15 to Las Vegas. As infrastructure is built natural gas consumption will increase. This will also be a marketer's nightmare since there isn't history to fall back on for a base load. Firm Transport Contracts drive when and how big pipelines will be.
When an open season is held to see what interest there is for building the pipeline, if the pipeline company can't pre-sell most of the capacity with firm 20 year contracts the pipeline won't get off the drawing board. When the mean temperature drops below a certain point firm contracts bump interruptible loads. This is when spot prices of NG start getting crazy. You can have a black swan event like what happened when spot prices to California went to 66 dollars a Dth. Capped natural gas wells are easy to bring on as long as the liquids haven't built up much in the tubing bore. Shale gas is harder to start up. This years curves looks like we are using abundant amount of NG, but the last five years have skewed the curve because of warmer winter weather plus cheap spot prices for natural gas. Natural gas prices will slowing climb in each season of the year, ascribed manufacturing re-shoring & highway infrastructure being built. The snowball has just started rolling down the hill. I am long COG for now, that is the only energy stock I own. I am waiting for prices to drop a little more before buying into shipping LNG. Recent IPO's NVGS and DLNG are giving us a peek into the future. GLNG & GLOG are two shipping companies to watch. All the companies building these LNG plants are climbing in price fast. CBI & PRIM. The building of America is here again and not even Capital Hill can stop the movement.
Jack H. has a good handle on the situation and the article was written to bring on spirited debate which it has.
Enjoy your warm home. I hope you are using Nat Gas. for now it is cheap and in three months as the season changes it will get a little less expensive. Range for 2014 will be between 3.50 & 4.75. This is only by own SWAG.
    Thank you,
    Passingass

  • Warren Buffett Continues To Bet On The Bakken [View article]
Mr. Buffet is a lobbyist that only goes to capital hill when it serves his machine. Keystone could have been built or well on the way to being done. It can take as little as 75 days to pass judgment after oral comments are given to FERC. The president chose to keyhole the project as long as possible and at the last minute will approve the project so our neighbors to the North will still play nice with us. I did vote for him only because if you don't vote you can't bitch. I'm bitching now.
Bret it takes balls to come out and say what should be said.
Thank you, keep up the good work.

  • Bakken Update: Best Bakken Wells Of 2012 [View article]
Michael, Thanks for the update. Looking at data I had Three Forks was having the best wells after IP. I don't have any information like you have. I look forward to your analyzed data wellhead to dehy, including choke info.
What is the fuel gas loss at the well location including flaring the natural gas and could you tell us where on the earnings report that is located.? I purchased Silica last year along with rail. When the oil price starts up for good I plan to get back in. Almost got CLR until I saw the divorce coming. I hope he gets off better than News of the World divorce. One last question, with this play going into Canada has Flaxton mushroomed past 100 people?

  • Three Free Lottery Tickets Attached To Stellar Balance Sheets [View article]
HRTPY is currently drilling off the Namibia coast. Spun-in a couple days ago. They sold their Aerial Amazonia Services to Ericsson Company earlier this month. Helicopters needed for rig workers for Amazon drilling. There was a note that Ericsson will give a great rate to HRT. They did just complete one of the largest gas wells in Brazil next to Amazon Rain Forest 1-HRT-9-AM 18.01 million cubic feet per day at 32/64 choke. The company still needs a pipeline to the region. Brazilian owned Oil Company has a 12 inch pipeline close to Jurua Field. This makes 5 wells drilled in Jurua.
12-21-12 Goldman Sac's sold part or all 14,613,657 shares 4.95% of all shares. The Brazil Bank of Brazil owns 4% approximately.
HRT has 4 licenses from Namibia to drill offshore until 2015. They sold 14% stake of Namibia off shore field to Portugal's Galp Energia.
Where HRT is drilling Hydrocarbons have been confirmed from Kudu Gas in Orange Basin 40 years ago. Kudu didn't drill to pre salt levels where oil is suspected. HRT also has some of the most complete 3-D Seismic maps of Orange Concession per Marcio Mello. 7.4 billion BBLS of oil. 5.1B oil & 2.3B equivalent in natural gas Cash burn rate is going to be large in 2013. Transocean's rig will cost 535,000 per day with 280 days on contract to drill 4 wells. Each well should take 66 days to drill if oil or gas is found. 56 days for dry hole which has happened 40 miles away. That's why this is now a lottery ticket, this company has been pumped for two years and I have watched the stock price go from 8 dollars to 4 dollars and started buying at 1.50 to 1.20. I wish I could buy at .90 cents. For now I wait and wish each night. Too much to say and I didn't save all the articles written.

  • 5 Bold Predictions For 2013 [View article]
The late 70's ushered in hyper-inflation. Buying a home meant signing up for 15% interest rates. I purchased my first home in 82. I had a good job and the banks wouldn't touch me. The homeowner financed us by escrow and the bank only took the payments. I hope when the feds slow down the buying, interest rates don't inflate as fast as disco left the 70's. To big to fail is here again. Big Ben has different idea's coming from each federal bank. I can't remember when the committee voiced their own opinion so openly about when, where and how to start interest rates back into daily life. Until congress comes together and passes a bill to keep government from the cliff without billions in pork attached, the other 49% is going to have a hard time getting to pay day. We are lucky to have money for investing. Bret does a good job writing and having a piece to read that sparks emotion which causes debate is not only good, but fun without demeaning the author or comments from the peanut gallery.

  • Shares of Star Scientific (STSI -11.9%) crumble after the company is taken to task over allegedly misleading investors over its relationship with Johns Hopkins University. Despite claims to the contrary, the academic institution doesn't have any official involvement with Star Scientific or nutritional supplement anatabine, according to Adam Feuerstein. [View news story]
Now what we all need is to have Daniel Loeb with Third Point LLC come in with a power point presentation. Bill Ackman can counter with a pro stance on STSI just opposite of Herbalife Days of our life stock. The big difference here is the price of the stock. STSI is penny stock that is fun to short or go long. Each article moves the stock enough to make money while having a good laugh. I have lost and won. Cheaper than Vegas!
