  • Too Big to Fail: Greenspan Adds His Voice to the Break-Up Chorus [View article]
Little late to the party, Al, since it was you and your bubble machine that created those too big to fail. Hush now, be a good boy, dunce cap atop your head and resume your position in the town square. Mumble on about irrational exuberance, then mumble some more about how you really didn't mean it. Don't forget to tell Ben to print some more, just like you taught him..

  • The FASB Rally: More Dishonest Breathing Room For Banks [View article]
Watch when banks start buying assets from each other at "market prices". You buy mine and I'll buy yours. The ol' boy network or hucksters and frauds has new life. FASB? Who runs that and with what oversight? Wasn't mark to market what kept Greenspans internet bubble afloat for so long? When it comes to the American puplic the government's motto seems to be "if you can't beat 'en, cheat 'em."

  • Blame Citigroup's Woes on the Citi-Travelers Merger [View article]
The biggest side of the problem did not come form the Travellers side. It came from no side at all, rather from between the ears of Rubin and Prince.

  • Citi's Underwhelming Bailout [View article]
With more of the suckers money (aka the taxpayer) C is able to raise it's head above water--temporarily. They'll be sputtering and coughing a bit longer, but still be able to suck some oxygen..until the credit card crisis gets rolling. Oh yeah, it's coming alright. Bye bye C.

  • Sirius Investors: Decline in OEM Take Rate Something to Watch [View article]
The consumer is not going to have enough money to buy anything but essentials. They certainly are not going to be willing to pay for radio just so that they can hear U2 or Sinatra whenever they like. Bailout or not, the autos industry is in for a world of hurt. Credit is the issue, and we have only seen the beginnings of it. You think housing was bad? Wait until the credit card defaults start en mass. Americans did not know the consequences of imprudent borrowing. La de da. They are about to learn.

    Ouch.

  • Citigroup Is Heading into the Single Digits [View article]
    C in single digits. Yep.

And it may need some additional bailout money when it becomes clear that housing defaults are just the start of our troubles. Remember all those vacations and flat-screens consumers put on their credit cards? Well, it's time for them to pay up...with money they don't have. C's business model was to offer plastic to every guy living under a bridge...well, it's time for C to pay up for its folly.

  • Why "Drill, Baby, Drill!" Does Not Translate Into Effective National Energy Policy [View article]
Drill Baby Drill, may not be very poetic but it sure seems necessary. Until you can stick some french fry grease or a hunk of coal into your gas tank we are gong to need petroleum. The transition period from petro to alternatrive sources of "car power" will be long and costly. Let the transition go forward with all due haste, but during the interim we should not be paying $x per gallon for gas when there is oil to be had by drilling, thus making the cost to consumer somewhat less than $x, probably considerably less.

  • Is Sirius XM Stock Being Manipulated?  [View article]
I have seen a thousand reasons why Sirius keeps on going down. Now a thousand and one. Has anyone considered that maybe satellite radio is not a profitable idea? No? Well maybe you should.

  • The Sirius/XM Disaster: The Ashes of the FCC [View article]
Hmmm. I thought you said the stock was going to zoom after the merger? Was XM/SIRI not conducting business during the wait period for the merger? And if they were did you hear anything but good news from them? I think you owe your readers a mea culpa about your being so naive and coaxing them to buy, buy, buy a stock that you had clearly feel in love with and lost all objectivity towards.
