Why "Drill, Baby, Drill!" Does Not Translate Into Effective National Energy Policy [View article]
Drill Baby Drill, may not be very poetic but it sure seems necessary. Until you can stick some french fry grease or a hunk of coal into your gas tank we are gong to need petroleum. The transition period from petro to alternatrive sources of "car power" will be long and costly. Let the transition go forward with all due haste, but during the interim we should not be paying $x per gallon for gas when there is oil to be had by drilling, thus making the cost to consumer somewhat less than $x, probably considerably less.
Crude Reality: Big Oil's Purposely Restricting Supply [View article]
Another person who believes that anger is the same as truth and that the perfect conspiracy is afoot. Sir, open your eyes. There may be two oil men in the White House, but there aren't two oil men in Bonn, or London, or Zurich or Rome. Are the leaders of those governments in on the conspiracy too? Think before you shoot. Keep it up and soon enough you will have no toes left.
Can Environmentalism Be Compatible with Capitalism? [View article]
Of course they can be reconciled. Look at the politicians associated with environmentalism, in particular Al Gore who is supporting capitalism by Tipper and he living in a 50,000 sq ft house in support of the building trades and unfettered conspicuous consumption; or Ted Kennedy, a staunch environmental supporter who opposes wind generation off of Hyannis Port because it will ruin his million dollar view, and his nephew, Robert Jr. whose deep concern for the effects of pollution has him flying all about the country in a private jet thereby showing his deep, deep sincerity and his support for having a small co-2 footprint while remaining a friend to big oil by consuming copious amounts of their products. What about John Kerry's simultaneous support of the environment and Detroit with his fleet of SUVs?
Take a look around. Most environmentalists support capitalism. The reason that escapes people is a defect in perception: most people haven't mastered the art of following both sides of the environmentalist preacher's mouthes.
Will U.S. Recession Lead to Solar Depression? [View article]
Are you suggesting that the only thing restraining growth is the lack of raw material? I think not. As far as the point of oil prices driving solar usage, again, I disagree. As much as oil prices, it is the mass hallucination that the world is going to turn to cinders due to global warming. Though many governments have bought global warming in full and no evidence to the contrary will change that, a recession of any magnitude will put environmental concerns on the back burner. The Solars are a great long term investment but they are overdone at the moment. In my opinion, a recession will change their valuation for the worse.
"Excesses are modest away from housing"? Really? Credit card debt is not excessive? Savings are not next to nil? Most Americans are not about 6 months away from financial insolvency? All of which are very likely to be exacerbated in any kind of downturn.
Why Isn't the Government Capping Credit Card Interest Rates? [View article]
Yeah, just what we need, more inducements for Americans to take on more debt.
Green energy is a great idea but not for the reason Al Gore says it is. Al Gore is riding a wave of a populist delusion. Soon enough--in geological time, that is--the climate will swing back in the opposite direction (and it will) there will be a different bunch of hysterics to warn us about global cooling.
Oh yeah. Thee world is coming to an end, just as it has been predicted 20 other times in my lifetime. Hurry. Everyone in to the cave. The sky if falling.
