Fed Leaves Rates Unchanged; Walks Tightrope on Inflation
Inflation and the economy will continue to move in opposite directions until the price of oil is brought down below $100 ($50 would be better). As long as the clueless Democrats continue to dance to the mantra of moveon.org and the wacko environmentalists, nothing of significance will happen.

In the final analysis, it will be the American people who will decide this issue in November. If they wake up and throw out the Democrats in the House and elect more Republicans to the Senate, Drill Here, Drill Now will become reality and oil will plunge in price and take inflation with it. And, the economy will boom, once more.

If the Dems manage to hold on to the House and Senate, worldwide depression will result in the following 12 months as they continue to oppose energy independence while pushing a heavy a socialist agenda of high taxes and out of control spending.

Those are the two possible short-term scenarios. It is up to the electorate to decide which will become reality. Government, left to its own devices, will only make matters worse.

Will the Fed Actually Raise Rates Next Week?
Re: Will the Fed Actually Raise Rates Next Week?

More proof of the incompetence of the FED and its detachment from reality. When you recruit your economists and financial experts from academia, you doom yourself to the inanities and unrealistic solutions of stupefied mental processes and theoretical computer modeling based upon inadequate data and unproven suppositions.

Didn't our government learn anything from the disaster of Alan Greenspan? Remember, he caused 7 recessions with his blundering. Are Bernanke and company determined to top this record of incompetence by creating a worldwide depression?

Can Cities Create "Foreclosure Sanctuaries?" [Housing Tracker]
As sharksm and gwinner have indicated, this is nothing more than a publicity stunt to garner support for Aquirre and a frivolous lawsuit doomed to be tossed out of court. In many if not all of the contracts the signatory was dishonest, knowing full well he/she did not have the resources to fulfill the terms. The judge, liberal or conservative, has no choice in the matter, as the law is the law. Failure to uphold the law will result in a reversal by the appellate level of the court and the judge could face removal from the bench.

      Historic Financial Collapse Underway?
The economy will experience a miraculous recovery when the price of oil falls to reasonable levels. Then, all the pundits, analysts, and politicians will proclaim how they solved the problem. Over time, even more nonsense will emerge from these and other sources of, in their opinion is, profound wisdom.

The market place that encourages egregious greed is now, and always will be, the source of economic unrest and destabilization. Until we ascertain how to control this without damaging capitalism, we will, always, be in danger of the debilitating effects of outrageous avarice.

All other opinions are just an excuse to make a living from, apparent, wisdom and insight. Simplicity resulting in real insight will never be in vogue. Otherwise, all those who blather about things they obfuscate with excessive verbiage would have to get real jobs.

CreditSights: Guardedly Optimistic About U.S. Loan Market
Until the egregious greed of bankers and lending institutions is restrained, the housing market will continue to fall, credit card defaults will continue to soar, and the economy will continue to stagnate.

The current practice of gouging the consumer with 6%+ mortgage rates on 30 year mortgages and 12% and much higher interest on credit cards will drive the credit worthy from the market place. Bankers and finance companies will continue to be saddled with bad and non-performing loans as those who can service mortgages and credit card debt will sit on the sidelines.

The banking industry will never learn that gouging coupled with easy credit is a path to disaster. But then, bankers have never been known for their intelligence nor have they ever learned to control their greed.

Optimistic predictions are no substitute for common sense and reputable business practices.

Value Investing in Sears: Avoid Current Perceptions & Look Forward
If Sears Holdings is in such great shape, financially, why doesn't it pay a healthy dividend to its long-suffering stockholders? Or is Lampert like most of the other Wall Street Big Players, all for me and the hell with you?

As for football analogies, give it a rest! There is nothing in this country more self indulgent and focused than professional sports. I stopped watching and going to pro sports events, years ago. They are nothing more than a bunch of spoiled and overgrown kids being exploited by avaricious franchise owners, greedy coaches, classless advertisers, intellectually challenged TV and Cable networks, and very poor representation of American sports. They spoil every thing they touch.

Gee, it sounds like Wall Street and Washington.

      Oil Shocks Aren't Necessarily Inflationary
As you, wisely, indicate, government blundering has more to do with runaway inflation than any other factor - yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

However, we cannot ignore the fact that the price of oil is the underlying cause of massive inflation in our country, today. Until we gain control over this and gain energy independence, this problem will continue, unabated, forever. A Paul Volker will not ride to our rescue today because the Fed is helpless to control the situation in the face of the turmoil in the worldwide energy market. Only positive and effective actions to utilize dormant domestic oil resources such as The ANWR, the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico, off the coast of California, and in the oil shale deposits of Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming will achieve energy independence.

Additionally, the federal government needs to step on the necks of the Democrat power elite in California and force that state to begin refining Alaska crude. Presently, all this American oil is being shipped to Japan because the clowns of Sacramento forbid it to be refined in California.

Furthermore, the know nothing, do nothing Democrat controlled Congress needs a swift kick in their brain section (located south of their beltlines), to authorize more refineries to be built in this nation. To further the cause of energy independence, they must, also, allow more nuclear power plants to be constructed on a crash-emergency basis. In other words, the Democrats must cease being obstructionists and embrace true progress. Otherwise, give them the boot in November. On second thought, give them the boot, regardless, of what they may do from now till then; they cannot be trusted to do the right thing on a continuing basis.

How Much Inflation Will We Have to Endure?
I have to agree with CLH's comment on this article: “An entire page of wrongheaded myth and negativity." As with most so-called experts who write for various and sundry media outlets, the author suffers from verbosity of the pen. Much ado about nothing.

To keep it short and simple, inflation is based, today, on one overwhelming fact: the price of Oil!! Until we get this under control and down to a reasonable level, inflation will continue to escalate. Additionally, until we clean out the gang of 535 that occupies the Congress and screws up everything they touch, nothing of significance will happen in the war on inflation.

The American electorate has the power to begin this task in November by voting-out the entire House of Representatives and a good portion of the Senate. However, the replacements had better understand the mission they will be charged to accomplish by We the People and get to work on it when they take office in January 2009. Significant progress on energy independence must be completed by March 2009. If we are to dig out of the mess that the Democrats have manufactured since taking control in 2006, we must start in November.

Although, the Republicans in Congress have been ineffective since 2006 (some would argue long before that date) they are starting to stir, once more. They are stopping the programs of the Dems to join the nonsense of the global warming wackos and the kowtowing to the UN wonks. Additionally, they are pushing their program of “Drill Here, Drill Now!” and are attracting the support of the vast majority of the citizenry. If they stick to their guns and make significant progress, we may allow some of them to remain in place in November. If not, out they go!

One last point. The author of this article, Marvin Clark, bemoans the expenditure of billions of dollars in the Iraq War. Tell me, Mr. Clark, how many billions would be spent if the terrorists were able to, directly, attack this nation? As with the liberals who oppose the war, your insights and criticisms are too narrowly focused and completely disregard the consequences of your proposals. I believe a high colonic would work wonders on clearing your vision.

Bernanke's Statements: Blatant Lies or Wishful Thinking?
Don't any of you pundits realize the problem with our economy is not complex, requiring a nonsensical analysis, such as reading a crystal ball or studying tea leaves? Actually, the problem is quite simple to define: oil!

Until we get our energy dependence cured, the economy will continue to circle the bowl as the whirlpool of incompetence and stupidity drags the nation ever downward. The proposal being pushed by the Republicans in the Congress to drill in The ANWR, in the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico (China and Cuba are, already doing it), and off the coast of California is the first thing to come out of the asylum known as Washington that has made any sense or promised a real solution. Add to this a proposal, being pushed by Rep. Chris Cannon of Utah, to accelerate the recovery of the trillion, that’s trillion, barrels of oil locked in the shale deposits of Utah, Wyoming, and Colorado would make us energy independent for several hundred years.

An immediate, but not a cure-all, solution would be to override the stupidity of the California politicians who refuse to allow Alaska oil to be refined in that state. It, therefore, is shipped to Japan! That’s OUR oil these clowns are exporting! And, in case you don’t know, these morons are Democrats.

All that is needed to achieve energy independence, is to kick out the obstructionist Democrats (surprise, surprise!) who control Congress, and elect sensible, knowledgeable, honest, and, hopefully, non-careerist Congress persons, in November. If the electorate awakens from its deep sleep that has allowed the Dems in Congress to muck up and weaken this nation, and gives them the boot, there is hope for our country. If not, all is lost. Believe it.

Fed Funds Futures Predicting Strong Chance of September Rate Hike
Raising rates, lowering rates, etc. is a sure indicator that our government does not have the faintest idea of how or inclination to deal with the real problem affecting our economy: OIL! Until the Democrats in the Congress are routed out and replaced with knowledgeable, honest, insightful, non-political office holders who know what has to be done and have the intestinal fortitude to it, the circus and roll-a-coaster effect will continue, ad infinitum, ad nauseam.

Drill Here, Drill Now is an attractive and effective beginning. The Congress and the President have to tell the wacko environmentalists, who receive much of their funding and support from sources that are antagonistic toward the United States and wish to see it weakened and destroyed, to take a very long hike off a very short pier over Niagara Falls. Until we establish energy independence in this country, our economy will continue to seesaw and slide, ever, downward. Manipulation of interest rates to give the illusion of control is just that, an illusion.

In November, the American electorate has to put aside their long held belief that their Congresspersons are honest, intelligent, and have a plan to save this nation. Nothing could be further from the truth. In reality, they are all corrupt, incompetent, clueless, and, in many cases, stupid (Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer, and Harry Reid come to mind).

The first step to regaining access to the path that leads to the greatness we achieved in the pass is a complete and total housecleaning of the Congress. Step 2 is the election of non-careerists who have the mental faculties to right the Ship Of State and plot a new course that will lead to energy independence, a stable and growing economy, military dominance, and sensible policies for the present and the future. Nothing else will work or is worthy of consideration. Otherwise, goodbye USA, hello UN.

      Speculating on Oil Bubbles
Supply is not the problem, speculators are the problem, and with good reason. With a margin of, only, 7%, this is wide-open territory to the Vegas crowd. Raise the margin to, at least 50% and watch the greedy gamblers head back to the desert.

Additionally, kick out the Democrats in Congress, this November, and elect Republicans who are determined to "Drill now, Drill here!" and watch oil start to tumble, quickly. If the Repubs are smart (unlikely but nice to think that an elected official has intelligence and vision), they will declare a national emergency in energy and pursue hydrogen power. With the Purdue U. process of hydrogen from water on demand and the advancements in fuel cell tech, we could be free of all fossil fuels, nuclear, wind, and solar within 3 to 5 years. That's, at least, twice as fast as “Drill here, Drill now” can deliver. This is achievable if the politicians can cure themselves of their lust for bribes from Big Oil. Right!

Ethanol Producers in Trouble as Corn Sets New Record
This whole ethanol program is nothing more than a "wet dream" of the wacko environmentalists and the, equally, clueless Democrat Congress. The effects of this massively useless and expensive boondoggle will be catastrophic on the world food supply (riots are, already, in progress), waste time in the move to achieve oil independence, ruin automobile engines all over the nation, and drive the cost of fuel even higher.

The real answers are four fold and very easy to understand:

      1. Open drilling in the ANWR, the coastal plains of Alaska, in the deep waters of the Gulf of
Mexico, and off the coast of California.

      2. Build more refineries, now!

      3. Build, at least, 100 new nuclear power plants.

      4. Aggressively pursue and develop hydrogen as a fuel.

As to hydrogen, with the discovery of a Purdue University research team, last August, to produce hydrogen from water, on demand, the necessity of special and expensive handling is eliminated and the cost of hydrogen production is minimal, cheap, and safe .

Additionally several companies and organizations are furiously, at work developing fuel cell technology to produce electricity from hydrogen in vehicles, homes, and businesses. With a national emergency development plan this technology can be on line in five years or less. All that is needed is for the government to get the hell out of the way and let good old American ingenuity and determination get the job done.

A major and, extremely, important step in bringing all of the above to fruition in the shortest time possible can and must be taken in the coming November elections. The electorate must dismiss just about every member of Congress running for re-election and replace them with honest, knowledgeable, and dedicated to the will of the American people candidates.

Yes, your Congressional representatives, House and Senate, are anchors on the above proposed plans as well as everything else this nation needs to move forward and prosper. This marching in route step to the polls to blindly cast your votes for the same dunderheads, election after election, must cease, now! Otherwise, it will be the same old, same old and the country will continue to go down the tubes. Believe it!

Question: If your Congresspersons are dunderheads and you continue to vote for them, what does that make you?

In case you haven't noticed, there are massive layoffs and permanent terminations happening all over the country in finance, retail, service, manufacturing, technology, research, biotech, and more. That's where it's happening folks, not high school and college kids and recent graduates looking for employment. Wise up, the country's in trouble and no amount of propaganda and heads-in-the-sand can change or fix this growing problem.

Also, please remember, government is not the answer, it’s the problem!

Homeowners Associations: Villians Or Victims in Foreclosure Crisis? [Housing Tracker]
Homeowners' associations can serve a useful purpose in ensuring that properties are maintained and do not devalue neighborhoods. However, they have a real danger to devolve into little cliques of frustrated housewives and clerks who, for the first time in their lives, have a little power. There lack of managerial knowledge and experience does not deter them from imposing horrendous rules and fines to satisfy their misplaced sense of omnipotence. In the long run, most communities are better off without them.
