I graduated from the College of Creative Studies at UCSB with a BA in art, 1985. I received an MFA in painting at UCLA, 1992. So what am I doing trading for a living? I began trading markets with friend/money manager Cedd Moses in 1989. Moses was commonly ranked in the top 1% of aggressive growth managers in the US throughout the 90’s and I traded closely with him for more than 10 years. I wrote an online newsletter, TheContrarian (Notes from the Wallstreet Underground) from 1998-99. Moses and I then co-ventured, along with partners, launching Marketbug.com (proprietary quantitative econometric madness), where I wrote BUGnotes daily from 1999-01 (we republished these bi-weekly in 2000 on Marketwatch.com). Marketbug was dissolved in 2001. I prefer holding positions for several months, but in more volatile trends they average around 10 days (these days even less). I pyramid gains and blow-out losses. I go long, I go short and vary allocation based on technical, fundamental and psychological interpretations of the market. I trained with the best, but I am my own madman now.
