As far as Majors investing in Juniors there is a lot of that going on; Terrane got financing from Goldcorp and Goldcorp has an option to buy into the company, Agnico Eagle has a good sized stake in Golden Goliath, Riverside Resources is now partially owned by Kinross. Let the majors do the due dilligence on the juniors for you.

Gold Stocks: Too Much Speculative Risk for My Taste

I agree with your natural resource investment idea, and yes gold stock is speculative. But if you believe in the fundimentals you can speculate and should but not with the majors you have listed. The mid tier and junior stocks have much more upside potential.
