      As for author's comment "I think, this is a very reasonable acquisition target, for instance, for Yahoo (YHOO)." Absolutely not, the economics of 3rd party travel TRANSACTION sites won't do anything to enhance a Y! or Google. Note that Y! already has a nice travel ADVERTISING business in FareChase, which is now a meaningful business for them. In addition, they drive good revenues simply from letting OTAs like Travelocity 'power' their travel channel. Great monetization for almost no effort.
