  • The launch of the first CPUs based on AMD's 28nm Steamroller architecture, codenamed Kaveri, could be delayed until Feb. '14, PC industry sources tell Digitimes. Previous roadmaps indicated Kaveri, which is aimed at mid-range desktops and mid-range/high-end notebooks, would launch in late 2013. AMD plans to launch two other 28nm CPU platforms by 1H14: a Steamroller-based server CPU line codenamed Berlin, and an ultrabook CPU line codenamed Beema. Beema uses AMD's existing Jaguar architecture, and stands to replace the recently-launched Kabini. Intel (INTC) launched its power-saving 22nm Haswell CPUs last month; 14nm Broadwell CPUs are expected next year. [View news story]
