Central banks have obviously not learned the lesson that too much of loose money causes bubbles which end up bursting badly, eventually. What makes you think they've learned other lessons?

Also buy Tivo (direct entry into living room) put Android on it, revamp UI, add a camera, build a social platform on it and get people to share everything from diaper changing for babies to stripshows by grandma (I'm not going to watch either of them but I'm sure there there's and audience)

  • Apple: Pay And Watch Offerings Unlikely To Move The Needle [View article]
Watch will be the fashion statement of 2015 ... the financial analysts would be tripping head over heels to revise their estimates. My guess would be 25 to 30 million unit sales for $9B to $11B including accessories. This will be a huge seller in Europe & Asia especially and has incredible, sustainable international potential for at least 3 to 5 years before approaching saturation.

Apple Pay will start "small" ... Apple will approach the market in reverse order based on transaction size. High end retailers and purchases will be targeted first so the number of POS terminals is not necessary to the revenue potential. Also, expanding online purchases will be a factor. The key factor to note here is the perpetually expanding nature of the market. Unlike other hardware products, this will keep expanding by 30 to 50% every year even after 5 years. Keep in mind - There is no reason, an iPad mini cannot be programmed to act as a POS terminal. Apple might sacrifice margins on an older gen iPad mini hardwired to be a POS terminal and just offer it at a hard-to-refuse cost to all retailers.

Next up in 2015 ... Apple TV (the real thing!). Conservatively AAPL @ $130 end of 2015.

  • Report: Facebook talking with Hollywood about Oculus deals [View news story]
One thing I thought Google can do is, partner with Disney (perhaps at Epcot center) and build a "holodeck" (Star Trek style) ... using their street maps technology, google glass and moving floors.

The experience starts in a special room (rooms could be small "pods" for individuals or small groups) with moving floors in many directions and projectors built all around. Visitors can choose where they want to be - e.g. Paris. Google street view videos provide a 360 degree coverage of the starting location. As the visitor walks in a direction, floor moves back to compensate for walking experience and the sorrounding imagery changes in co-ordination. Visitors will wear a special google glass which will provide them additional information, prompts, feedback etc.

Not sure about the details of oculus but Google certainly has a lot of the technology needed for a virtual experience.

  • Here It Is, The Big Sell-Off... Has Been Wrong The Past 169 Times [View article]
Of course, the market will come back up. I'm not dumping my GILD, AAPL or BABA (aka YHOO). I'm only talking about recognizing a high probability short term correction at an early stage, take profits, increase cash position and look for short opportunities and buy the dip at the appropriate time.

Other than the Direxion 3X bear ETFs, does anyone have any other recommendation for maximizing returns in a downturn?

Probability of a serious correction increases with time. The very fact that the past 169 times did not lead to a major drop over 5 years means that the probability of one occurring this time or in one of the next 3 or 6 months is "astronomically high".

It is good to learn a bit about Michael's background as you are reading his articles. None of these are meant to insinuate anything sinister ... just pure information.

"In 2013 ... lost money on Apple shares"

His automotive parts company, current investment form, Son etc.

Michael - There are 3 kinds of people in the world:

    1. People who have an iPhone
    2. People who would like to own an iPhone some day
    3. Michael Blair

#3 being a small demographics of one person, #2 is a huge opportunity for Apple and they will do well in future.
