I am an active option and etf trader. I do have a real day job which pays me decently, but I enjoy playing the markets. I normally trade options which are 3 to 6 months in maturities and use strategies such as synthetic long and synthetic shorts.
After following the markets for years, I started actively managing my portfolio in 2010. Plenty of misteps and a few victories have brought me to the point of wanting to share my experiences and gather feedback from this community.
I'm still learning the more advanced strategies for options and currently investigating futures trading, I want to bring my perspective to the investing world and hopefully generate some alpha along the way.
I tend to focus on a few names at a time to determine their trading patterns before intitating anything. I've learned that patience is a virtue and to not rush into trades. There are always more opportunities though I still struggle with "the trade that got away" syndrome on my darker days.
I hope anyone reading my articles is able to get some valuable information out my opinions and experience, and maybe a chuckle once in a while.
Individual investor and trader invest and trade for myself and family members. Some stocks I hold long (trying to ignore noise), others short trades long or short, try to evaluate each for it's best potential. Have only been full-time 5 yrs...still such a tremendous amount to learn!! My father has been investing for 60 years and is (trying !!) to teach me as much as he can. If you were to ask me who i admire most in the world--it is my father!
I have so much to learn--and welcome any and all the help you can give me!!
I like tech stocks, high div stocks, MLPs, ETFs, energy stocks, foreign stocks (china, india, brazil esp), mining, but will look at anything that looks profitable....am attracted to high growth and small caps, (when appropriate), am intimidated by healthcare stocks, biotechs...so much can go wrong and i don't know enough about them..
Ok, sorry to ramble on.....
