  • Why Investors Should Be Buying Alcatel-Lucent, Not Cisco [View article]
Both CSCO and NOK haven't figured out how to deal with the French government and unions which pretty much restrict foreign purchase of ALU. The remnants of Alcatel would suffer if they sold just the LU portion away so probably won't happen. Good hedge is to buy ALU which may end up owning more stock in CSCO or NOK; both should be winners if it happens. My bet is put more chips down and wait and see! Excellent report, Mr. Nichols.

  • Alcatel-Lucent: Set To Soar Even More [View article]
Great article, thanks for the reassurance ALU is on right track to recovery. Having started as a Lucent engineer, I respect the prowess of the research and technology this combinied company has. Alcatel always was a European leader and ALU should be it again. Just needed leadership. I plan to stay long.

  • Ariad +13% as BMO upgrades, assets likely to attract M&A interest [View news story]
Most of this quick run up is short covering; future earnings justify max $7-8 price. I'd be happy to sell @ $14.

  • Buy Ford Even If Mulally Leaves [View article]
Ford has little downsize risk; don't think Mullaly will go to Microsoft. I think Elop will get the nod as he knows the culture and did a good job setting up Nokia for MSFT. Age is also a factor; MSFT looks for CEO for next 10 yr+ , not a short-termer nearing retirement. Ford has always had short term CEO's who work with the board and understand and listen to the Ford family. Mullaly was brought in as a fix it guy; Msft needs a long term inbred leader like Gates, etc. Good time to buy both companies for 2014.

  • Saying Goodbye To LSI [View article]
Been long LSI for several years, selling calls for small ROI. Happy to take $11+ and look for a better buy/write deal, like INTC. Semis overall are undervalued; fast money going after social media stocks which manufacture nothing and are way over priced.

  • Alcatel-Lucent's Broadband Products Win Recognition For Technology Leadership [View article]
Good article- lots of high tech info. Finally the world will learn again about the technology prowess of the Bell labs, the people who invented the transistor!!! Just needed a new CEO who understood what he had and turned it loose. Thank you ALU, from an old Lucent engineer.

  • Cisco: 3.2% Yield And 30% Upside [View article]
John Chambers proved himself as he built Cisco through acquisitions and capitalized on internet growth. Wall street respects him as one of the best corporate leaders. I agree with this article, the stock is oversold regardless of who is CEO. If Chambers was not so cautious on the future, Wall street would put a P/E of 20 on this stock, not 10. Hard to find a better value. Go long on CSCO.

  • Alcatel: A Sum Of Parts Analysis, Enterprise Acquisition Speculation And Nokia's Interest [View article]
After sitting on ALU stock for several years as result of Nortel and LU mergers and acquisitions, I will be happy to trade anytime in double digits. We still have a long way to go. Nice article and analysis of why ALU is work more in pieces to NOK or CSCO. Like to see a bidding war for enterprise div.

  • Alcatel-Lucent: The Risk Of Capital Destruction Is Too Large [View article]
I agree; sounds like sour grapes since author already sold out and is now trying to justify why. Would you rather own ALU or Tesla at this time? Both speculative but tesla already a momentum stock, and ALU just beginning to become one.

  • AT&T Remains A Cash-Generating Machine [View article]
lots of tech stocks with lower P/E, better growth prospects and reasonable dividend that is safe. T payout too high based on earnings growth. If you sell call options too you will net you more than T overall. Try INTC or CSCO!!

  • The Delusions Of Nokia's Valuation [View article]
NOK is soon to have lots of cash. How about the rumor that NOK may buy network part or all of ALU?
Combes seems to be the right CEO to rebuild this combinedl patent and IP services powerhouse in Europe and opens door to US market!! Long on both ALU and NOK for at least another year.

  • How Cisco Can Boost Its Share Price By 41% According To Carl Icahn [View article]
A better use for overseas $ would be to buy ALU to get the Bell labs and their patent portfolio. Over half of ALU network IP business is in the US. This would avoid paying tax on overseas cash and raise the stock price too.
