  • GM's New Electric Vehicle A Good Sign For Tesla's Growing Market [View article]
i3 Sales are disappointing. They have a huge dealer network, a huge campaign pushing them and now they are offering substantial discounts. They produced quite a few and haven't quite sold as strongly as BMW thought. YTD, in most markets Tesla still outsells them, however that is unimportant as one is a cheap discounted novelty car and one is a real car.

The i3 is a different market, there would be essentially zero cross shopping between them. And the Model S is way more fun to drive. Smart car owners may look at getting into the i3 and with its poor design and super cheap interior; they will feel right at home.

LT, I don't think you really get it, but you're not alone. The Model S has plenty of competition in the 5 series, A6/A7, E and S class Mercedes etc. The i3 competes with Smart cars and... well, it is so ugly I'm not sure anyone wants to compete there. It is not a competition in who can have another full electric, it is who can make the most compelling car for whatever specific market. In the full size luxury performance sedan market, the Model S is doing very well, it just happens to be full electric.

  • Could Toyota's Upcoming FCV Become A Threat To Tesla? [View article]
Toyota really needs to fire its design house. This car should look innovative and cool, instead it looks like the designs that were thrown out for the next Camry.

You don't see the glaring differences between a baby step technology move like a hybrid and a full hydrogen car?

Hey Logical, thanks for the report. What does the competition look like? What is the word on the street from users of the product?

    Seems interesting.

  • Tesla's April Sales Begin Flowing In [View article]
Ya, similarly BMW lost M5 sales to the new hybrid golf. Oh wait, that makes no sense, completely different markets, just like the egolf and Model S.

  • Tesla Vs. Renault: Low Cost, Not High Cost, Is The Future. [View article]
Because they sell junk. According the author high volume junk is where you want to be, I would disagree.

  • Tesla Vs. Renault: Low Cost, Not High Cost, Is The Future. [View article]
The Model S, although expensive, it not for the 1% market, that is a lazy and false assertion. Secondly, the lower volume luxury market is a much better market to be in; look at Chevy vs Porsche as brands in opposing markets as an example for success. Of course, Tesla is planning a "higher" volume more affordable car in a short time but the fact remains, your thesis is poorly thought out and the EV story is not like the hybrid story in the nineties at all. Hybrids are a stop gap way of testing some of the technology. Even still, hybrids continue to be introduced by more and more manufacturers further discrediting your point.

That is weird, it is eerily silent to me. The drag coefficient is incredible so there is basically no wind noise at normal speeds and with no powertrain noise. I'm not sure what you were hearing.

He's just trolling. He doesn't know any of the reasons why Chang is no longer with the company.

Chang is not a loss at all. There is reason to believe he was politely let go, read: resigned. People leave companies for many reasons but I think he was in over his head in that position.
