Did the 'Enron of Norway' Pull a Fast One on Microsoft?
This posts makes it crystal clear that you are not a journalist. You say things like "another shady search company" without any explanation. And that is your style throughout this entire post.

Its one thing to share with readers the questions from a Norwegian newspaper, but its another to add your own adjectives and to offer it all up as findings of fact.

Microsoft: Bernstein Not Sanguine About Vista Adoption
Note that he trimmed his estimate by 49million, while his estimate was a 700million above consensus. C'mon Eric Savitz, call this what it is... CRAP.

He moves his estimate down (49/700 = 7%) but still 93% above the average analyst following MSFT.

      Laughable.

What a heaping pile by DiBona. He is simply playing CYA because his revenue estimates were too high. Found this note from April 8, 2008...

DiBona "also repeated his above-consensus Q1 revenue estimate of $24.3 billion; the Street sees $23.6 billion."

      ABOVE-CONSENSUS!!!

So, now rather than admit any error... he blames Microsoft. Real classy Charles.

Why Microsoft Will Never Win (Again)
global hemp, you seem to be having fun debating WITH YOURSELF. You said "Microsoft has Windows and Office. Those are their cash cows." and I'm saying add two more.

"MS does not want to license anything from anyone"
You're entitled to your opinions, but this statement is factual inaccurate. There is perhaps no other company in the software industry who licenses more software from other companies.

"Oracle is better for databases". Now come on. Don't let your hatred of microsoft cause you to say wholly ignorant things. Don't lose focus that your can personally not like a group of people (Microsoft) without making every action/product and word out of their mouth... pure evil. Stop trying to draw a characture of a company for the sole purpose of making it easier for you to spew venom on them. Thats childish.

Larry - "[insert whatever] is going to Eventually Kill MS Office. Nothing is going to Stop this Train Wreck from happening."

Say something new. Thats been the byline for 10 years running, and its getting old. AOL was going to kill Microsoft. So was netscape, sun, oracle, sap, open source, google, apple, linux, open office, php, mysql, ibm, novell, gpl, real, adobe, symantec, quicken, and the list goes on and on.

Yet, profits at msft have never been better. Wishful thinking on your part, is just that - WISHFUL. Doesn't make it true or happen any faster. And in the years between your blind prognostication... and any measureable loss by msft: only proves your inaccuracy.

The Feds Didn’t Bring Spitzer Down - His Bank Did
ZB, I was really trying to get the author to dig deeper. My real feelings are this...

ZB, you're living in the past. Seriously, these losses to our liberty aren't occurring NOW... they occurred long ago. You live in a fantasy if you think you are free. Don't pay your taxes, and sit in the house and wait for the men with guns to show up. Thats not freedom, and thats using powers from a hundred years ago.

"These laws aren’t catching the people they were designed to help catch. "

Seems to me that Spitzer broke the law, and was caught. So, you are wrong.

Iin this article you make a very weak case for it. You seem to be trying to rally the troops for the cause of liberty... but your only call to arms is a generic "its an invasion of privacy". Thats not enough, for discerning readers. HOW is my freedom being hurt? HOW? Answer that simple question. HOW am I hurt? Just because it breaks your philosophy, in relation to privacy... doesn't equate to it causing HARM to you (or me).

This is not EU versus MSFT. This is, and has always been, EU versus Successful US company.

Kudos to the EU for effectively raising the price that EU consumers will pay for MSFT goods. Oh, you don't think that $1.3B will be pushed right down to the consumer? Then perhaps you should check the DEFINITION of monopoly.

      Microsoft's Potential Is Exponential
James, I was responding to your comment where you said "If I were Bill Gates"... and I responded in kind. Now, however, you've changed to the role of simple investor. That's two VERY different roles. One is charged with long-term growth, and one (investor) is weighted toward the short-term... which is akin to strangling the golden goose slowly.

I sometimes wonder if commenters on this site have any fundamental understanding.

      Take this comment for example...

"dividend to 4% (just think of how many people would buy stock)"

So, upon raising the dividend 4 fold (oh, and do the math and you'll see how much cash that will require annually) and for half a trading day... people WILL buy... right until that dividend yield is right back where it is now. And the net gain will be a nice warm bowl of nothing.
