If MSFT pulls its bid, NewsCorp will have successfully bought in at $50B capitalization, and be left standing (and looking stupid) at a $30B asset.

  • Google/ Microsoft Ad Wars: A Contrarian Viewpoint [View article]
I cant get past the first paragraph, which is factually inaccurate.

"Had there been enough foresight Yahoo could have been purchased earlier for far less than the current premium"

o rly? Here is a chart of yahoo's stock price. PLEASE point out the date on which the stock could have been purchased for "far less". Considering the special dividend was handed out two years ago, and the pre-acquisition announcement shows yhoo at its 4-year low point.

"How much longer can they lose billions a year on crap like zune and xbox?" Go do some digging, and you'll see they predicted full year 2008 as their first full year of profitable operations. They've been saying that, themselves, for years.

    "Microsoft is in decline"

By what measure, cause you didn't include that tidbit of data. Go look at their profits, and you wont see decline. Look at revenue. Nope. How about a contracting product line? Wrong again. Please, tell me.

"Most everything else is flash. "

Yeah, Exchange at a $billion$ profit/year is "flash".
