Dammit Thomas, why do you have to make so much sense?Nevertheless, I have seen much stupider takeover plays than TMY. So I feel comfortable with the risk/reward this stock offers, especially considering how much the world still relies on oil. I know that sounds way too macro, but I see other companies like RIG getting $250k dayrates (Drilling in less proven reserve areas) and I think that there has to be some upside value to TMY, which is just sitting there with its proven reserves.

Given all that I think Oliver will try to buy it now, so then he can sell it to some other MNC oil giant and pocket some arbitrage of his own (Just like you said your 6th paragraph). Then again I am not the most patient man in the world so waiting until March, April while Oliver searches for financing might not be appealing.

Waiting to Pounce on Asia Once the U.S. Bursts

Many people seem to be slowly embracing the stagflation thesis. I am sure with time people will also accept that decoupling is unlikely, and that China's "pocketbook blues" stems considerably from their uncontrollable inflation (Such as 49% YOY increase in pork prices).

Possible stagflation on one side of the world, borderline hyperinflation on the other side, unbelievable.
