I just received an email today (12/19/07) from Blockbuster that states they are raising their monthly rate from 24.99 to 34.99 for 3 DVD + unlimited in-store rentals. I really think blockbuster was willing to operate at loss by offering TotalAccess at a price that competes with Netflix. I am sure they were just trying to stay afloat long enough to steal as many customers as possible. Once they either reached a certain number of new subscribers, or could no longer afford to operate in the red, they raised their rates. My TotalAccess rate was raised by about $7 only 3 months ago. Now it's going up another $10?? Forget it. Goodbye Blockbuster. I am returning to Netflix.
