  • As Oil Retreats, 4 Airlines Begin To Save Considerably [View article]
You will find most book non-cash mark-to-market gains/losses below the operating line. The accounting depends on the nature of the hedge products being used. In either case, there is a reconciliation to "economic price of fuel". In no case is it s CapEx, which was the OP's initial assertion.

Sounds like "drunk accounting"... Fuel is OpEx, settlement of mark-to-market gains/losses on hedge portfolio are booked below the operating line.

  • More on the Starbucks-Square tie-up (previous): According to academic Bill Maurer it would take a "big merchant" jumping into the mobile payments to break the mobile payment barrier of consumers who see little reason to change from a physical wallet to a virtual wallet. If the SBUX-Square deal hits full stride, shoppers at stores won't even if have to take out their phone to make a payment, much less actually sign a receipt. Did mobile payments just break the 4-minute mile? [View news story]

"Spirit is at least honest about what they are selling."
