  • Anthem Breach Proves Wisdom Of Owning UnitedHealth [View article]
Politics does affect investing as much as we don't like it, United Health has been a good Insurance Company.

What happens with the government system has impact upon all of the insurance companies including United and Anthem---Blue Cross etc.

As I previously pointed out our family was an early part of the United Health insurance company as customers -----via our non-profit employer advising the government.

The government and politics and our economy are intertwined---and even more so in the recent years. To not consider all when investing is not something I would advise anyone to do.

  • Liberty Media: Profits more than double; broadband spinoff wraps [View news story]
Go to the Sirius board and ask the question. Also, go to all of the records with the FCC and the SEC.

There is no 'conspiracy'----what has happened with Siri over the years has many twists and turns. It's a lot like monopoly------ with Chess players in the mix.

Now, about the dividend that Siri pays, I have yet to receive a check-----what is the date for the dividend? CN do you get the picture?

Unless a Common Shareholder receives real money in hand there is no dividend. Or, receives a stock dividend in their account, there is no dividend.

In fact forget the dividend and let Sirius rise to its true value . It's a great idea and company with constant increases in use and new programs..

The answer is obvious. For the same reason we all bought before Siri crashed----to make a profit in and participate in the growth of the Satellite In The Sky company.

Now , why did you Stephen buy the stock in the first place?

Just hate when my posts just disappear in the midst of writing. Happens on SA occasionally.

So forget it on to my comment--------Liberty has 57% of Sirius----Sirius is the money for them. Options just valued for May 2015.

Sirius gets negated as a company in some articles; however it is Sirius that is feeding the money to Liberty.

    Yes, what is that figure?

  • Anthem Breach Proves Wisdom Of Owning UnitedHealth [View article]
Another point--------the government does not fund all of Medicare and Medicaid.

Employees and former employees have paid handsomely previoualy for the Social Security System that now includes the Medicare and Medicaid programs. As they age it is their money that is in the "trust fund" that the U.S Government claims is held "in trust".

What has gotten added is the totally "free" portion that was WELFARE.

The welfare portion will continue to grow, not because of the retirees but because of the influx of people into the USA who have not worked and are not citizens .

Perhaps it is time to separate the Social Security system from the Welfare System. Then we will know what is truly in the SS and held in trust. And, what is paid for welfare recipients who are included in the SS system.

  • Anthem Breach Proves Wisdom Of Owning UnitedHealth [View article]
I know United as it provided our family's insurance for the company my husband was employed------. As the woman of the house-----I kept and reviewed all of the insurance forms that had to be filed by our family and did the talking with United.

Then United went to a system of 'primary care' doctors. That complicated getting members of the family to much needed and competent specialists.

Along with United--------the employer had to set up a special office to be the intermediary between the employee and the health insurance company. (As money was paid out of each paycheck for the Insurance.

Yes, there is no doubt from my experience and observations that the system that AARP works with now for Obama Non-Care was designed by United and maybe by the Government---- even before Hillary spent her time working on her version when Bill Clinton was in office the first time as President.

I spent significant time this past fall talking with insurance companies and with AARP to understand the Obama (non) care system. It is so darn complicated that few understand it, as well as expensive for a family particularly.

Even Nancy Pelosi sincerely commented that they would pass it and then read it.

As to investing in any of the insurers--------I would not personally do so.
I would rather take my risks in investing elsewhere.

    Regarding the breach of security:
If Anthem used only the last 4 digits of the SS for Identification, there may be no complete breach with records. Guess we may know in the future. Anyone insured by Anthem may be feeling a lot of fear----and even anger (and rightfully so.)

The problem with pipelines such as piping across the mountains of W. Va. to Virginia and points South many beautiful areas of both states will be destroyed by the ugly pipe lines .

Yes it is a solution but at what cost to our beautiful America.

One solution is to stop immigration and the increased demands that immigration brings on our infrastructure.

Send out a message-------to those wanting to settle in USA----------stay home in your native country. America has no more room.

With snow like we have had this winter-------electric cars would imo be a disaster. We already have batteries for regular gas cars that freeze up in the winter.

This is now---------the future may be able to work with electric, fuel cells , nuclear.

Of course trains are a problem in snow; although some can plow through snow more efficiently than a snow removal truck.

  • Smoking Hot Opportunity In Imperial Tobacco Group [View instapost]
The investment strategy is interesting.Agree that Obama will push as hard as possible to affect Cuba and America relations with cigarettes and Cigars.

As someone who has friends who came to America to escape the heavy hand of Castro, I do not favor the release of prisoners from the prison in Guantanomo.

This has been one of his goals since he was nominated by the Democrat Progressives. It may be possible that this will enter the mix.

The picture in the article of Obama and Castro is graphic in where Obama stands. Havana was a major source of the Cocaine and Heroine in the 1950 's and 1960's. These two drugs destroyed the lives of many people.

So my question becomes--------will Obama open the door to both again? And, to other nations that ply the ocean around Cuba wanting to destroy America?

  • Deliciously rich: A Florida woman leaves her banker husband to join forces with the Occupy Wall Street crowd in NY, comparing her decision to abandon her family to serving in the military. She admits her mom is calling the decision "selfish," while she says her confused hubby noted, "he’s working for 'the Man,' and I’m fighting against him."  [View news story]
No, the urge doesn't disappear in the mid-20's. Many people don't get married until the mid-20's. Given the age of the children------all teanagers and her being 38 at the time she went to New York-----the children were born in her early 20's if they are her children. Your reference is to October 2011-----what has happened to this woman who spent her time on Face Book and went to New York to protest Wall Street???

Is she still in the park or is she back with her 4 children and her Banker husband who was with Bank of America and ended up in Florida with another bank.

There is more to this story than meets the eye. According to the article her
    husband 42 .

Just happened upon this post as I was looking for info on SA.

    Correct they may have deductions.

Have a good day-----snow and cold again in much of the USA-----once the snow goes------there should be opportunities in the rebuilding process in places hit by the historic snows.

Obviously, road rebuilding-----bridges... collapses---electrical work------even food supplies. This is part of the cycle of life and the stock market..

    Just a few ideas.

I am talking about the article by JPM citing 40% Corporate Tax Rate. Check it o--------

The article was on the SI (Stands for Silicon Investors) stock site. There was a Morgan Stanley article about the Corporate Tax Rate.
The rate is currently about 40%. If you can't find it there. Please search the internet.

I gave the reference. I did not write the JPM article.
