Interesting. I'm long EPD (along with BPL and others). I share your concerns about the sector. It's somewhat true about pretty much all sectors. Point taken
that we shouldn't marry our investments.

    Interesting. Thanks.
I'm long full positions of JNJ and GSK; half position of BAX; and a half position

  • American Realty Capital Properties: Rapid Growth At A Cheap Price  [View article]
Reminds me of the "whale" mega loss at JPM and the recalls at GM.
I bought more ARCP this week. And started a position in GM. Hope it works out as JPM did. We'll see.

  • Chevron And Exxon: Which Is The Better 'Buy And Hold Forever' Stock?  [View article]
Agree with gldhwk and WallstreetPete. Both CVX and XOM are exceptional companies. Both are the very top of their industry. It seems, IMO, the smarter play to buy the industry leaders with great track records.

  • Why Not Consider This 12% Yielder As An Alternative To REITs And MLPs?  [View article]
Have a small position in PSEC, but clearly most investors doubt the company's ability to sustain the current dividend. No cushion here, IMO.

  • What's The Probability That This Dark Horse REIT Wins?  [View article]
    Well done.
Long LXP for several years. Somewhat surprised that it trades for such a low
multiple. As you say, we're getting a very nice yield with a good margin for error while we wait.

  • These 2 High-Yield Picks Could Supercharge Your Portfolio With Dividends And Capital Appreciation  [View article]
BDCs are risky, indeed. 10% to 12% distributions don't come without substantial risk of capital loss. That said I've had about 2.5% of equities in ARCC, FSC and PSEC. Trying to spread the risk some, but it probably doesn't help too much.

  • Buckeye Partners: Slow Growth Can Still Build Wealth For Your Portfolio  [View article]
BPL's exceptional record speaks for itself. MMP also has a great record and is doing very well, and that's priced into the units. If MMP raises it's distribution per unit by 15% each year for five straight years it would reach $4.71 in 2019. BPL's current distribution per unit is $4.35; BPL's growth will likely be in the low to mid single digits. At some point MMP's growth will slow to about the same level. The classic trade off. In this case I'll take BPL.
Long BPL and several other pipelines.
