Why Should You Own Dividend-Paying Stocks?

Good article. The only potential problem I see is the proposed 5.4% surtax on dividends [and capital gains] which is buried in the Pelosi healthcare bill. If that becomes law, I worry that Congress will begin increasing that surtax every time they need more money. It could shift some investors away from dividend stocks into growth stocks so that they can have some control over their personal tax situation.
