  • Barron's Takes Down Cramer, Again [View article]
Hoffman has it right they need to stop arguing about stock picking performance and concentrate on the future.Since very few gained with their 2008 stock picks overall any contest between 2 combatants ends with no clear winner.Be happy you are still in the game to play another day.Others who invested with swindlers like Madoff were not so lucky.

  • The expropriation of wealth that happened in Cyprus will happen everywhere, warns Marc Faber. Growing wealth inequality means that the wealthy have nowhere to hide and similar events like those in Cyprus will happen in more countries around the world, including developed nations, where wealthy people will lose part of their wealth, either through expropriation or higher taxation. "You have to be prepared to lose 20 to 30%," Faber says. "I think you're lucky if you don't lose your life." [View news story]
Following Faber's Gloom and Doom playbook the last 4 years has left you out in the cold as the Market rallied. The nervous laughter in the videos sounds like whistling past the graveyard late at night.

  • With just an hour to spare, congressional leaders avert a federal shutdown with a budget deal to slash $39B in the remaining six months of the fiscal year. A bridge resolution will keep the government open next week while the paperwork is finished, and the agreement drops contentious riders that would have denied funding to Planned Parenthood and the EPA.  [View news story]

They might not be taking part-time work because there is none. All of these part-time jobs have been filled by employed workers supplementing their incomes to keep up financial pace. The family vacation and extras are being financed with real wages instead of Home Equity loans.Take all govenment employment stats, throw them in the air,and then rearrange them in your own statistical formula to arrive at a clearer picture. The official numbers can be stacked in any way that keeps that figure below 10%.

  • Seven Uncomfortable Predictions for the Economy [View article]
With more articles written like this, my prediction is for your name to be included on hundreds of watchlists in the near future. The crime uptick has already begun if you read between the lines of the news releases.Kinda surprised it has been this quiet so far. When 401-K's values plummet,Real Estate holdings diminish, and a person's job is taken away, what do people think is going to happen? Some will regroup silently picking up the pieces of what is left. While others will don ski masks and do their best John Dillinger impersonation.Only time will tell how dangerous this becomes.

Stay away from this one as it has gone nowhere for a decade.I do not see a catalyst for the next ten years anywhere.Cramer is not getting younger either and there is no " Golden Boy " to take over.Restarting the dividend might be a game-changer if corporate goes in that direction.

  • Terminal Diagnosis: Despite What You May Have Heard, Dendreon Is A 'Dead Company Walking' [View article]
DNDN will bounce upwards soon.Too many piling in on the short side getting over-confident.Someone or more will seek to exploit this band-wagon jumping.Tesla and Herbalife are 2 recent examples. For the life of me I do not see the logic in shorting stocks at under 3.It can only go bad at this point with little or no upside at this juncture.I remember taking a long position on Countrywide many years ago and it jumped 5 dollars on a billion dollar loss.Since it was not a 2 billion loss the stock popped because of a short squeeze.Logic almost never plays a part in how a stock responds when it is considered " Dead ".Be careful overplaying the bankrupt angle.Sirius fell to 6 cents because traders thought it was " Dead ".

  • "Many Americans don't have enough money to carry them through retirement," writes Jeff Sommer in the NYT. A recent study found that around 44% of households in the baby boom and Generation X generations are likely to run short of cash in their retirement years. One (temporary?) problem is low bond yields, while another is that people are "ill equipped" to mange Individual Retirement Accounts. And then there are 401(k) and other defined-contribution plans, which have ended up as a major part of the retirement system rather than as the supplements they were supposed to be. [View news story]
Do not retire, ever. The biggest scam ever perpetrated on society. If you are shown the door by your company, start your own business.Instead of relaxing on a beach surrounded by beautiful girls, you will be standing in line for coffee mumbling to yourself.Very few enjoy the good life in retirement except a select group here on Seeking Alpha. The rest clogging up the roads getting in the way of the small amount still working.See it every day and getting worse by the minute.
