LDK Solar: Astounding Growth & Incredible Value
Hey, Phree, Shhhhh. I'm still accumulating this stock. It may be the single best investment for 2009 and beyond. As always, good article!

5 Stocks to Buy if Obama Wins
SPWR would, in fact, stand to gain from US tax dredits. But the company is still way overvalued. Its forward PE's are higher than all the current PE's. LDK, in contrast to the editor's opinion, stands to gain very little from US tax credits. They have wisely been concentrating on the Asian market (Japan, India, Korea) and have been signing long-term multi-year contracts all along. So, as I've written here many times, I love LDK. I own a lot of LDK but not for the reasons given above,

I was hoping to accumulate more before the big guys jump in. And jump in they will.

Three Reasons Solar Sell-off May Be in Early Innings
I have been following the solar industry for 30 years. It's a shame that some of you still don't get it. The whole world is going solar. Economies of scale are here. This is analogous to the early stages of the automobile industry. Some of you are still basing your decisions on the cost of horse buggies. The Chinese get it. They are making sound long-term investments. We should follow suit. Some of you day traders may make money jumping in and out. But solar is the single best long-term investment for my money. Companies like LDK and STP will be selling at $120-$150 by the end of 2009. Meanwhile, I'd like to thank the nay-sayers for allowing me to accumulate more...

      Light the Way with LDK
To User232188: First of all, the price of oil isn't coming down substantially any time soon. Not with India and China entering the market. But, more importantly, your question would be analogous to the early days of the automobile industry and someone being reluctant to invest, in case horse buggies start selling for cheaper. This is the dawning of a new age. This will dwarf the industrial revolution. Companies like LDK and STP are poised to become the GM's and Ford's of tomorrow. You still have a window of a year or two before the "big boys" jump on the band-wagon. Nevertheless, you can double your money by then if you start now. By 2011, as multi-billion dollar portfolios start pouring their money into solar, companies like LDK and STP will be selling in the $350-$400 range. Just watch how many brilliant analysts come out with a "buy" recommendation, AFTER LDK hits $80-$90 within 6 months.

Kudos to John Schiro. I've been accumulating LDK for months and have been making the case for LDK on these pages. But, in all honesty, I could not have done so any better than Mr. Schiro has. Thank you, John, for a terrific article.

      Steer Clear of Akeena Solar
I fully agree. By the way, I dumped SPWR months ago for similar reasons. When insiders don't have confidence in their own company, why should I?

LDK Solar: Forecasting Sunny Skies in Q2 Earnings
      Mike,
If I was working for an investment firm, I would hire you today and pay for your education. You're right on the money with both articles. I've been accumulating LDK for a year. I believe it will be at 100 in 2 years. Keep up the great work!

Sunrise or Sunset for LDK Solar?
We should thank these anal-lists for driving the price down. It allows the rest of us to accumulate this stock for the long run. Take a look at LDK's future P/E. No one else is even close. Just keep buying. It's just a matter of time before the "big boys" jump on board.

      Sunpower Seems Unreasonably Slaughtered
SunPower is not a bad company. But with a P/E ratio of 637 (5 times higher than First Solar's lofty triple-digit PE) and with its executives exercising their options in droves, I wouldn't say it is being "unreasonably&quo... slaughtered. For now, it is simply overvalued.

LDK Solar: Conversation with Pichel Revisited
To wiseinvsetor2006: Funny, I went through similar girations with Schwab and, like you, moved most of my money to TD Ameritarade. In fact, I opened 2 new accounts with TD for my kids. Schwab may not care now, but they will eventually.
As for LDK, "hold on!" is definitely the right advice. Scarey at times, but will pay off in the end. Does anyone know when exactly they are scheduled to annouce their quarterly earnings?

      Why LDK Beats First Solar
I admit that I am not as bullish about LDK as I am about some of the other solar stocks I own. However, I fail to understand all the vitriol. There seems to be a bunch of LDK haters who are really passionate about their dislike of the company. I have followed LDK for quite a while. I've listened to their earnings calls. I am aware of the accusations. I am trying to be objective. Are their numbers not some of the best in the industry? Is the company not growing at a healthy pace? Are their P/E's and PEG's not lower by far than the other players? Does the company not have contracts in hand that assure sustained growth? Is it really that unthinkable that their silicon plant will be up and running within a year or two, leading to greatly improved margins? I admit that I am long on LDK. But I am long on some 11 or 12 other solar stocks. Why the passionate hate for LDK specifically? Thanks!

In the immediate future FSLR might still be overpriced (very high PE's AND PEG's). But in the long term, both FSLR and LDK (not to mention STP, TSL, JA Solar, ASTI, ESLR, HOKU, ASTI...) will reward investors handsomely. As for FSLR and LDK, it's not either or. And none of the raw materials needed for solar energy is in short supply. What's especially attractive about the solar sector is that even a company that fails to keep up with its competitors will, in a worst case scenario, simply become a takeover candidate.

SunPower Corporation: Ridiculous Valuation, Heavy Insider Selling
I agree that SunPower is overvalued. But most other solar energy companies are not. I think it would be a mistake to short any of them (including SPWR) because any drop in price will be short-lived. SunPower may simply remain stagnanat relative to the others.
