LDK Solar: Constructing A Bright Future
Kudos to Russ. I couldn't have explained it any better. Nikeeita, see my comment to yesterday's LDK article herein. Just be patient. This is a great stock.

LDK Solar: Goodbye Inventory Issues, Hello Growth?
To shunyuk: To think that the performance of solar stocks is directly related to the price of oil is analogous to saying that the automobile industry's initial success was dependent on the price of horse buggies. I honestly don't think that most of you realize what is about to unfold. The solar revolution will come close to matching the Industrial Age in its significance in the next decade or two. Just like you cannot imagine our lives before the PC, Internet, Google, email, cell-phones. You will not imagine life before man learned to take full advantage of the sun. First Solar, Suntech, SunPower, LDK, Trina Solar... only the very beginning...

To kk12365: There are 2 analysts who have a vested interest in seeing that their recommendation of "sell" bears out. They are all too happy to look for negatives even when those negatives are outnumbered by really big positives. Here are the bad news stories: (1) misreporting inventory. And independent audit did not confirm the sole accuser. Good news for investors. And you can bet that LDK will be doubly careful never to come close to misreporting anything. Great news for investors. (2) Shrinking margins. It was the company that brought this to the attention of the analysts. Please take the time to listen to the last earning call. The company brought up the lower margins, then addressed it by plans to build their own polysilicon plant. The next day 2 analysts announced to the world "their" determination that profit margins are lower. The bottom line is: the company is growing at a very healty pace, it has contracts and clients lined up for the future, it will improve profit margins and it's selling at a far lower multiple than any of the other players. This is exactly when to jump in. When the bears still outnumber the bulls. They won't for long. I own stock (and a few options) on 12 solar energy stocks. I am optimistic on the entire sector. But few companies will outperform LDK in 2008.

Another way of looking at LDK is as follows: Third quarter earnings were fairly spectacular DESPITE narrowing margins. Management is addressing the narrowing margins by building its own polisilicon plant. Can you imagine what the numbers will look like with even slightly better margins; not to mention significantly better margins. Sit on this stock for several years. Use the volatility to your advantage. When the price drops, accumulate even more. Remember: Wall Street is like a herd of wilderbeasts. Once one changes direction, the others follow. By early 2008 keen investors will realize the upside potential of this undervalued company and everybody will jump on board. This stock will see $75 before it comes even close to Cheryl Tang's (Goldman) forecasted $33. By mid-2009 it will be well over $100. Forget the options. Just give it some time.

Solarfun Power: The Party's Just Getting Started
SOLF's P/E is in triple digits. It's PEG is higher than solid companies like STP, YGE, TSL and LDK. Do they have the kind of contracts in hand that these companies do to warrant such optimism? This is not a knock. Just a question...

LDK Solar: The Naked Shorting Crime
Several of you complained that you "lost" money on LDK. The only way you "lost" is if you sold your stock or had options. I have owned most of the major solar stocks for most of 2007 (STP, FSLR, SPWR, TSL, YGE, JASO, ESLR, CSIQ, etc.). I lucked out by selling part of my LDK at $74.50. It was a fluke. I jumped back in at $55, $50 and $46. I am more heavily invested in LDK than I've been all year. I have been following this industry for decades and I have never been more sure of an investment. LDK will double within a year. And I'm keeping it for the next few years. Hold on to LDK and enjoy the ride. You think FSLR was something? Watch this...

Thank you StockGuru. I'm not sure whether you agree with me or whether you assume that things have changed and these firms have cleaned up their act. While some analysts' motivation may be somewhat sinister, I believe that most of them simply don't understand simple business fundamentals. That is, if LDK had returned 37 cents a share on somewhat lower gross sales, everybody would have been euphoric. But because it took a little extra work and they had to generate more sales to achieve this spectacular growth, their stock was penalized by almost 30 points. Common sense disctates that if you continue to generate more sales and ever greater net income and, in addition, you are taking long-term steps to lower margins, you deserve for people to invest in your company. This exchange has motivated me to increase my stake. Thank you!

These so-called "analysts" have never run a business. Don't be surprised when they often issue "sell" recommendations despite predicting higher profits. It's to allow the "big boys" to buy at better prices. If you listen to LDK's earnings call, you will note that it was THEIR staff that predicted lower margins. They were forthright and honest. The next day, the so-called "analysts", instead of celebrating and rewarding healthy growth, focused exclusively on declining margins. Well, if my company could net $1 million this years on 30% margins and $1.5 next year on 25% margins, I think I'd be pretty happy. I've made a lot of money on LDK. I sold at $74 and bought in heavily (including options) at $50. The stock will see $60 in less than 2 months. Wait till they announce 4th qtr earnings. I've bet against these "analysts" (especially Cheryl Tang of Goldman) every time. I've doubled my portfolio since August. LDK has reached bottom and its climb back up will be spectacular. It's not Vegas. It's a solid investment in a company with exceptinally low PE's, contracts in hand, and healthy growth ahead.
