  • Which Way Wednesday: Cliffmas Is Upon Us [View article]
Best wishes to you & your family and thanks for all your insights. My take is it is CYA all the way. Boehner wants to keep his job as speaker so.....if the economy goes to heck in a handbasket, so be it. I help at a local foodbank & we started very slow, but every month we have more & more people coming in for help. We have no qualifications other than they have to live in the area. More & more elderly are struggling to keep themselves going. I wish those smug politicians would drop in & see these wonderful people who are bearing the brunt of high RX costs & family's with little ones who are so grateful for help. And no, NONE of this is government funded. It is all donated locally either with cash, food or produce and some of our time to help these neighbors. Best to everyone in 2013!!

  • Fiscal Thursday: To Cliff Or Not To Cliff - That Is The Question [View article]
Boy, these conversatons are childish no wonder this country is going down the tubes. Phil, as usual, is 100% accurate; keep right on voting for the "tea-drinkers" & stop bitching when the u know what hits the fan! And, by the way, GOOD LUCK!

And gold going to 3,000! I loved that one! And Facebook "fairly" valued at $42 on the IPO-the more I hear the hype, the more I back away!

This is what I maintained all along. The "trendy's" who have to have all the aapl gadgets r the 20-40's & the rest of us don't give a darn. Basically it is the same as any fad & runs its course over time. There r the exceptions but I have avoided anything aapl when I see all the "oldsters" saying they have to bring whatever it is back to the store for "tweaking," which means it is not working (again). My brother had 3 aapl computers because he was constantly having to rotate them for repairs, but he said "they were the best!"

  • Thrilling Thursday: The Appleconomy Reports Tonight [View article]
This commentry is almost as amusing as the Daily Show-did u really expect Obama to clean up ALL the mess left by GW in four years???? That is just plain not inductive, or deductive reasoning. GW & his gang went on a rampage & a massive bubble in housing led by GReenspun, which was probably all orchestrated by the banks, led to the first 4 trillion to help save the economy from total collapse. I haven't liked everything Obama has done but things are still back on track. At least we are not paying for two wars which were kept out of the budget by GW-check your stats!!

What happened to the comment on the public land leases? Obama has instituted the "use it ot lose it" & 28% more public land is actually being tapped. I cannot understand anyone doing investments when they cannot understand plain simple mathematical principles. Or is EVERYTHING FOX says gospel? As usual, Phil is right on & actually uses statistical data to back up his hypothesis & as he says over & over, you hedge your bets & make money in up & down markets. If the oil comapny's are backing Romney, it's probably a candidate you don't want to vote for-afterall they won't survive at all without their billions in subsidy's & profits, right?

  • Mariano's Is A Breath Of Fresh Air For Roundy's [View article]
Interesting article since it seems the retail food market is under so much pressure. We have neither WFM or Mariano's here in the No climes, but we have Cub Foods which is SVU supplied. Your article & all the comments were interesting & noteworthy, but I have one concern that was not addressed ie the change in demographics & the buyer's change in preferences. We have a natural foods co-op reasonably close to us which is expanding & growing very quickly and it is expanding their bulk foods offering everytime I go in. I hate Wal-fart & like Costco, though it is only in the large city's & I do not like the gigantic sizes they offer. As the population ages, smaller quanitity's seem to be the desired aspect of shopping & with natural foods it most certainly isn't price that is the deciding factor-quality seems to trump everything. So I would hazard that the Mariano's that your wife is so fond of may just predict where some of the larger grocer's are falling short & maybe be a good value with growth potential. Thanks for bringing this to my attention!

  • More Upside For Supervalu? [View article]
Your betting they are going down to 5 & u will get a payout. My puts are in Nflx which I've already collected on 3 times. Like I said, just like Shld- a failing company that has had a dozen turn arounds since taking over Kmart. There are plenty of company's to short like Rvbd, which always pays off b4 & after earnings. I buy stocks that have been beaten down & with 4300 stores & a excellent supply chain I believe they will have a turn around. They have a loyal customer base of which I am one. I don't call that "hope & pray."

Good luck with that-my puts go nowhere with this yo-yo market-if u don't catch it just at the right second. all I can do is roll it down to the next strike. I'm about ready to just go long with hefty dividends as the volumes & prices are so convoluted now.

Yeh Untrusting just like when Shld/kmart was at $1.35-couldn't go anywhere, right? Been buying & will buy more. Pays a great dividend in the meantime.

As usual, right on, BUT the market seems to do some extraordinary, unexpected moves like the last 30 minute move. Waiting to see if that starts up again; always fun.

  • Supervalu's Double Positive [View article]
Interesting article- I too am long svu & have been buying more stock as the price goes down & will continue to do so. I buy because it's a store I love to shop at-we have Cub markets in Duluth & it is always packed even though there is a Walfart not too far away as well as Sam's. Personally i detest Wallys world for many reasons & refuse to spend any $ there as they have horrible renumeration for employees, a bias against women(ie the Supine court throwing out the law suit), sold poisoned dog & cat food that killed millions of unfortunate animals & generally sell 2nd class everything. I could go on, but CNBC had one heck of an expose on their practices & tactics. Svu, on the other hand, pays decent wages & has basically very good grocery items that u basically don't have to worry that it will kill you & has competitive prices to boot. They have been enlarging their selection of natural foods which is very desirable, under their own label. I see good things for the company & the stock and earnings are reported tommorrow!

  • Friday Fade - March Goes Out Like A Lamb (To The Slaughter?) [View article]
Don't be fooled by Phil-he's no gambler. He has more moves than a Vegas stripper & makes money for his devotees. I know as I have subscribed to his services & learned an amazing amount in a very short time. He's a master of his craft & does it in relatively easy to understand explanations though it does take practice. Ever hear of an "iron condor?" A "butterfly double spread?" I could go on, but I'm sure u get the drift.

Wow-and here I thought the "sell in May & go away" was because everyone was on vacation having a great time enjoying the great outdoors. Personally I find it hard to trade while on my boat in the middle of a pristine Canadian lake. Or hiking in the Colo mountains. Cell phones suck in both places.
