Out of Thin Air: The WSJ's Pseudo Options Scandal [View article]
Do you really remember that day? Not only did I have my own financial firm but I was also part of another company that essentially died that day. I wanted to hug my children, my wife, my parents. For the first day I can remember I had no desire to work and profit. If I had the financial resources to call it quits that day I may very well have taken that option.
We all have horrible memories and personal challenges from that time period. My point is this. If I were one of the bastards on the board who has a fiduciary duty to protect shareholder wealth I can assure you that I would have done anything to get my CEO back in the game and back on board. We were all distracted and could have stayed that way for a long time.
Simply put you have no idea what was in the minds of the board nor the CEO's. You have cast a net around the lot of evil and corruption and I know you are correct about some but not all and I doubt even most. Leave the net at home.
From my recollection there has never been a time of national tragedy where decisions that may have seemed appropriate at the time are under serious challenge later in time.
